Primark PS Prep and Perfect Glow Iridescent Priming Elixir

When I go to Primark the first thing I head for is the beauty section to see what's new in. It's very rare that a product will catch my eye and have me popping it in my basket though. I have only ever tried two products from them, their matte liquid lipstick, and more recently the PS Prep and Perfect Glow Iridescent Priming Elixir.

I was intrigued by this from the outset. The first thing I noticed was how similar it looked to the cult favourite Farsali Unicorn Essence. I've spotted it being used in many Instagram tutorials and the glow it gives your skin is insane. I'd always wanted to try it but I just could never justify spending £50 for a 30ml bottle. I was hoping this would be a dupe for it, with the Priming Elixir only costing £4 for the same volume of product. I'm happy to say it doesn't disappoint, and it's since become my favourite primer.

From what I've gathered the Prep and Perfect Glow Iridescent Priming Elixir has been repackaged and renamed. It was previously the PS Pure Priming Glow Essence which was a part of their Summer collection last year.

The Priming Elixir comes housed within a frosted glass bottle with a lovely iridescent sheen to it, with a pipette inside to apply the product with. It looks more expensive than it actually is which I love. The elixir itself has a slightly runny consistency. It's like a serum-primer hybrid. To apply, I simply squeeze the pipette to pick up the elixir and drip it directly onto various areas of my face(cheeks, forehead, chin etc) and then pat it into the skin until it's soaked in. It smells absolutely divine too. It's like a mix of sweet and fruity. It smells like candy but it also has that hint of fresh fruit too.

Now, as someone with combination skin, any skincare or makeup product marked as 'iridescent' or glowy' has my back up. It either works for me, or it makes me look like a hot sweaty mess, but luckily this doesn't. It gives my skin a fresh, healthy glow. It doesn't make me look oily or glittery. It has a tacky texture to it which almost acts as a magnet to keep the makeup applied on top of it in place for as long as possible.

My makeup applies so beautifully over the top of it, however the glow doesn't quite show through fully unless you're going in with a light base such as a CC cream, tinted moisturiser or just a light coverage foundation. I'm not one for a light base unfortunately. I'm a full coverage kinda gal so it doesn't show through my foundation as much as I would've liked it too, but the overall finish is beautiful. I feel like it makes my makeup look fresher for a longer period of time.

I'm just so incredibly impressed with this Priming Elixir. Admittedly I didn't have high hopes for this when I first purchased it, thinking maybe it would be a bit gimmicky, but I hoped for the best. It gives my skin that lit from within glow that I love and I will be repurchasing it for as long as it's available. I need to stock up just in case Primark decide to discontinue it. If you're looking for a glowy primer then this would be perfect for you. For only £4 you really can't go wrong.

What's your favourite serum or primer?
