The Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

I am a huge fan of Urban Decay as a whole. Not only are they a vegan and cruelty-free brand but their Naked palettes are amongst some of my favourite eyeshadow palettes to use and the Naked Skin Concealer is a staple in my collection. I could go on and on about all of my favourite products from Urban Decay but I won't, there are far too many. I guess you could say they are one of my favourite brands.

Now last year was a good year for them in terms of new releases. The Naked Heat Palette was particularly 'hot' in the beauty community, but then came along their next release, the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara. Now, I have only ever tried one of their mascaras, the Perversion Mascara and while I enjoyed it, it didn't quite achieve holy grail status so I was intrigued to try the Troublemaker Mascara.

First of all the packaging is mesmerizing. The mascara comes housed in the most beautiful prismatic, double walled tube which makes it feel rather weighty compared to some mascaras. It is extremely appealing to the eye with the holographic, shiny finish to it. I was instantly drawn into it. I mean, who wouldn't be? I can never resist pretty packaging. If I have never read a review on a product but the packaging is captivating, well, there is a 95% chance I will still buy it despite the fact.

The mascara is claimed to be 'sex-proof' and promises to deliver you beautiful long lashes with 13.7 x the volume. The wand is of the silicone kind and of a reasonable size with long bristles on one side and tiny little hooks on the other which makes it easy to cling onto every little lash and separate them. It is unlike any other mascara wand that I've seen/used before which I love.

It is super black which is always a good thing for me as my lashes are naturally fair, short and sparse. You can barely see them up close, so the blacker the mascara, the better.

It is a nice, wet formula which allows you to build it up as you please. One layer didn't really make a difference to my lashes. I use up to 3/4 coats before I think enough is enough. It doesn't tend to clump up unless I really go over the top with it, but it seems to be perfectly fine with four layers which I think is quite impressive, especially as some other mascaras can leave your lashes looking clumpy with a spider effect after just two layers.

As I previously mentioned, my lashes are naturally short and sparse but after using this mascara I'd like to think there is a huge difference. It fanned out my lashes beautifully, separating every single lash while also adding some definition and making them look longer. I didn't see a difference in terms of volume unfortunately but I still enjoy using it.

It feels so weightless once applied. A few hours after applying it I forgot I was even wearing it and I rubbed my eyes. Once I realised I freaked the hell out, grabbed a mirror to see if it had smudged and low and behold, it hadn't, not even a little bit. I was so in awe. As for the claim that it's 'sex-proof', well I can't quite comment on that but it lasted so well throughout the day without smudging or smearing, even in the rainy weather which is great for a mascara that's not at all waterproof. It came off so easily with my usual Garnier Micellar Water too which is great.

I absolutely love it but unfortunately it didn't quite enter my top three favourite mascaras, but that's mainly down to the lack of volume, but as I've said, that's really not a huge deal.

You can purchase the Troublemaker Mascara online from Urban Decay, Debenhams and many other stores for £19.50, but there is also a travel size for £9 so you can try before you buy a full size.
