Four Products to Achieve a Flawless Base

You may be wondering where on earth I've disappeared to over the last week. If I'm honest I just didn't feel up to it. Writing up a post on this blog was the last thing on my mind after last weeks events, like many others. It no longer felt important and so I decided to take a step back and ease myself back into blogging as and when I felt it was the right time, and that time is now.

Today I wanted to talk you through four of my favourite products that helps me to achieve that flawless base, no exaggeration. For foundation is the *Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24h Foundation(£31.50). If you have read my previous post here then you'll know of my love for it. It delivers full coverage with a lightweight and comfortable feel and satin-matte finish. The foundation blends into the skin ever so seamlessly, no settling into fine lines or creasing under the eyes. It's very long wearing too, which is always a good thing, especially if you want your makeup to last you well throughout the day, special occasion or not.

The next step after applying foundation is of course concealing. Some may choose to go in with a concealer before applying foundation but I find that applying concealer on top rather than underneath seems to work best for me. I have two concealers in particular that I use for different purposes, for under the eyes and covering up any blemishes I may have. First I go in with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer(£19) in Fair Neutral which is the lightest shade they currently stock. Sometimes I use it for under the eyes as well as blemishes but the majority of the time I dot it on top of any spots and blend out with a sponge. It is a liquid concealer which feels extremely creamy and delivers a medium-full coverage. You really don't need very much product to cover up any of the problem areas.

For the under eye area I use the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer(£7.99). The name pretty much says it all if I'm honest. It's extremely brightening but hydrating and gives you just the right amount of coverage without creasing. The texture is very thin and light which makes it so easy to blend out too. It is one of my favourite discoveries from last year.

And lastly to set all of those products in place I use a powder, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder(£40) in Diffused Light in particular. It isn't necessarily a mattifying or setting powder but it adds a lovely soft glow to the skin which is incredibly natural and it doesn't give you that cakey effect which many powders can do. It's an absolute dream I tell ya.
