For me mascara isn't exactly the most exciting purchase. I much prefer shopping for foundation, highlighters and contour, however I would feel incomplete without it. I feel so bare and unlike myself if I don't have a good one or two layers of it on my lashes. I do have quite a selection of Mascara though and there is one particular mascara that I have been quite enjoying the last few months, the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. That is quite a erm, racy name shall we say? Although I can't help but like it. I love quirky names. But is it actually better than sex? All will be revealed.
Too Faced isn't a brand that is featured heavily within my makeup collection, although I have a few of their palettes which are amazing quality. I have been so keen to try out the Better Than Sex Mascara since the whole hype started two years ago when it was released but I have finally jumped onto the bandwagon and decided to give it a go.
The Better than Sex Mascara is effectively a carbon black, collagen fuelled mascara, formulated without parabens. It contains acacia senegal tree extract which nourishes, thickens and locks curl in place. It also has a film-forming polymer within the formula which makes it completely smudge-proof and longwearing.
As far as packaging goes it is super pretty. Pink and girly which I love. The Mascara itself is a lot more weighty than your basic mascara too. The mascara brush is hourglass shaped, designed and inspired by the curves of a womans silhouette. The bristles are quite stiff but with a little bit of movement, allowing you to separate, coat and curl every single lash, even those hard to get ones in the inner corner of the eyes. That is what I struggle with when it comes to other mascaras as the brushes are normally either too big or not defined enough to be able to reach those baby lashes.
The colour is a gorgeous intense carbon black too which makes your lashes really stand out. I find that one coat of the Better than Sex Mascara is more than enough to add some definition, length and volume but I like to go all out and apply at least two to three coats to make them look more fluttery and dramatic, especially if I am going to a special occasion, which is hardly ever, haha.
The wear time is pretty incredible too! I could apply it at around half 8 in the morning and by 8 at night it will still be just as intense as it had been when I first applied it with no smudging whatsoever. That is down to the film-forming polymer within the mascara formula.
It is incredible. The only thing that's niggling at me is the price as it's quite expensive at £19 but it is insanely good. You can purchase it from Debenhams here. Now the question is, is it better than sex? Well, I love it, but I can't say it's honestly better than sex.
There is a new waterproof version out now which I am kinda tempted to try now. Do I or don't I?
