My Favourite Liquid Lipsticks

My two makeup obsessions lately are highlighters and liquid lipsticks. Liquid lipsticks have been around for quite a while now and have since become a huge hit in the beauty industry. There's something about them that I seem to be attracted to. Maybe it's the promise of a matte lip and a highly pigmented, long lasting formula that I can't seem to get enough of. I have tried quite a few liquid lipsticks since they hit the shelves and I have decided to share with you my 7 favourites. Yes, 7! I did try to narrow it down to 5 but I just couldn't, there are too many. There is a mixture of high end and high street products so it's suitable for all budgets too.
Favourite Liquid Lipsticks
Starting with my favourite budget liquid lipstick, the Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Creams(£4.99). Although these are classed as lip creams I like to think that they are on par with liquid lipsticks as they give the exact same finish that any liquid lipstick does. There are many shades in the Matte Me range but there is one shade that I love and wear the most, Shabby Chic. It's a muted mauvey-pink, not too bright, nor dark, the perfect shade to wear in the daytime whatever the season. It is gorgeous. The formula applies quite creamy onto the lips but dries down to a matte finish, yet still feels very lightweight and comfortable too. A lip scrub is a must when applying these though as they can settle into the lines which isn't a very appealing look. I talk about the Sleek Matte Me Lip Creams in more detail here.

I first found out about Gerard Cosmetics through Shaanxo via youtube when she was talking through her own collection of the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks(£10.50). Upon the discovery of these liquid lipsticks I found myself swooning over one particular shade in the range, Serenity. It was out of stock for a while on Beauty Bay and as soon as it was restocked I purchased it and I'm so glad I did. It's a gorgeous warm pink nude with a slight brown tint to it. It applies wet to the lips and dries down to a semi-matte finish. It still has a slight creaminess to it which makes it all the more comfortable and easy to wear. It is quite hydrating and pigmented too, you only need one swipe and you'll find its fully opaque. The longevity is amazing too, there are no signs of it fading or cracking even after a couple of hours. I am looking to try out some new shades now. What should I go for next?

I have a few Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks($20) in my collection at the moment but only one could make it into my favourites. It was between Pure Hollywood(a light-medium peach nude) or Lovely(a mauve-pink), but in the end I decided to choose Lovely. It's so wearable, the perfect daytime pink nude. It has a spongey applicator which makes application a dream and the tip of it allows you to be more neat and precise. The formula feels almost like a smooth whipped texture but dries down to a matte finish after a couple of minutes. After a drink or two and a greasy burger it does flake and wear off leaving a slight stain behind so I always need to make sure that I bring the lipstick with me for touchups.

If you've seen my latest post about the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks(£16) then you'll know of my obsession with them(find post here). I went through a stage where these were the only lip products that I would wear. All of the others were left abandoned, and for good reason. Not only are they non-drying on the lips but it honestly doesn't feel like you have anything on your lips at all. The first time I tested them I was blown away by the longevity of them. After eating and drinking I expected them to fade away but the colour was just as pigmented and still very much in place. They last for so long! And the shade range, well it's fairly extensive. I have a total of 8 shades so far but my favourite is Celebrity Skin, a soft brown nude with a peachy undertone. I wasn't sure if it would suit me at first but it is surprisingly wearable. It's one to suit all skin tones.

One that I haven't had as much wear out as the others but love just as much is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick(£8.99). I have two shades from this range but the one I love the most is Nude-ist, a brown toned nude. The formula is very kind on the lips with a velvety texture which is amazing! I would say it is more of a satin finish than a matte though as it has quite a creamy feel to it. I don't feel like I need to top it up after a few hours of wear which is always a good sign but it does tend to flake a little which is disappointing but that's the only negative I find in it.

Another from the drugstore is the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick(£6.99). I have the full range but as a lover of nude lipsticks my favourite was obviously going to be *Nude Flush, a pink nude. I've already talked about them fully here but I thought they deserved another mention as I don't feel like they get enough attention. They apply like a lipgloss but without the stickiness and you only need just one layer of it too. If you build it up too much it can appear slightly tacky. The applicator is slanted which makes it easier for you to be able to line and fill in the lips which is fab! They make my lips look quite juicy and plump too. If you want to find out more about them(with swatches) then take a look here

Lastly is the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks(£16). These are a recent purchase
but I love them already. I have just three at the moment but Bow N Arrow was always going to be the one that I reached for more. It's a light brown-medium nude with a completely matte finish. These seriously last on the lips for bloomin' ages. I was so surprised at the longevity when I first tried them but I suppose they're called everlasting liquid lipsticks for a reason right? I don't want to say too much about them as I will talk about them in more detail on the blog soon, but they are seriously worth purchasing, Bow N Arrow particularly.

Can you tell I love my nude lipsticks? What are your top favourite liquid lipsticks? I'd love to know!
