Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara in Indecent Black

It's not often that I chop and change up my mascara but I have been doing it a lot lately in order to try out new ones and see whether the drugstore compares to that of the high end. I have a fair few favourite mascaras in my stash such as the too faced better than sex and maybelline lash sensational luscious mascara, but I have recently added another to my ever growing collection, the Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara. I have been using it on and off for a couple of weeks now so I thought I would share my thoughts with you.

The Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara is the latest addition to 'The Falsies' range. At first I thought that it was a double ended mascara like the rimmel day 2 night mascara but I was in fact wrong. It is a mascara which is formulated to add some length and curl to the lashes as well as giving an extra boost of volume in order to give you the desired 'false lashes' look. Now that sounds all well and good. I cannot apply false lashes to save my life so I had high hopes for this.

I have the mascara in Indecent Black, a very bold, glossy black. I love how a black mascara looks on the lashes as opposed to a brown mascara which would look a lot more natural. I love the drama that a black mascara brings to my somewhat stubby lashes.
Within the mascara tube is your average sized plastic mascara wand with spiky cup shaped bristles which is said to help lift and curl the lashes upwards from the roots. The mascara is formulated with a styling wax which helps towards keeping the lashes lifted as well as keeping them in place. It applies wet but dries down to a lovely soft finish without my lashes feeling stiff and flakey which is such a good thing. I also found that the spiky cup shaped bristles make it easier to separate and fan out the lashes too with absolutely no clumping, even after a couple of coats of the mascara.

If you're looking to achieve more of a natural finish rather than a dramatic falsies finish then perhaps this will work for you because it didn't do much in terms of adding volume to my lashes. It unfortunately didn't give me that wow factor that I always look for in a mascara, but it does give an awful lot of length, so it does tick that box. I do find that the length more than makes up for the lack of volume though. It also seemed to lack in respect of holding a curl too, in fact I think my lashes fall quite flat which is disappointing so eyelash curlers are a must.

Although it didn't seem to meet expectations regarding its volume and holding a curl it exceeded with its longevity. After a few hours of wear there was zero smudging, flaking or even smearing and transferring onto the lid. With some mascaras that can be a problem, especially with ones that aren't waterproof so I am impressed with this.

I know that it has a few negatives and positives but I do quite enjoy using this mascara. Lately I have been using it underneath another mascara so my lashes have both volume and length. I have the best of both worlds that way.
