It's Valentines Day today so you're probably already preparing for the night ahead, whether you're staying in with your partner or friends, snacking out and watching Netflix or going out for a lovely meal with your loved one, it's sure going to be a lovely day. Unfortunately for me though I'm working and so I won't be spending as much time with Josh(and Alfie) as I'd like to.
However, Valentines Day is another opportunity to bring out the Pink and Red Lipsticks. If you're a regular reader of my blog then you'll know about my love for lipsticks. I am completely besotted with the beautiful pink hues, but I only recently started wearing Red lipstick last year. I have a few favourites that I think will be perfect for this particular day, mainly high end(sorry!).
One of my favourites from last year was the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Luxembourg, a vibrant, cool toned pinky-red shade. It's super moisturising, has amazing lasting power and gives you the most gorgeous juicy, glossy looking lips. Beautiful.
The one and only Drugstore lipstick is the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic, a bright pinky-red shade which looks bloomin' amazing. It really brightens up my complexion. I think it would look absolutely beautiful paired with nude eyes so there is more attention paid towards the lips.
The most perfect balance between a classic red and a slightly darker red comes in the form of Clinique Lip Pop in Cherry Pop, a bright medium red with blue undertones. It applies evenly and smoothly, leaving a lovely shine behind on the lips. It looks particularly outstanding on pale skin tones, but I believe it will suit all skin tones too.
One similar to that of the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm mentioned above is MAC Impassioned, a vivid pinky-red(again, I know). I promise they're all different, aha. It has an amplified creme finish which means it has a fairly creamy consistency but it doesn't lack in coverage or pigmentation. I wore it all day yesterday and it lasted for soo long, after a good 3 hours it dries down to a slightly matte finish and the colour stayed nice and vibrant throughout.
For those that enjoy a slightly darker, vampy lip then NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella is the perfect choice. It's a deep wine-red with blue undertones and a matte finish. Although it can seem a little drying once applied, it certainly stays put, even through a drink and a bite to eat. To prevent your lips from feeling too dry then I highly recommend a lip scrub and lip balm beforehand, and perhaps pop a lip balm in your handbag too if you're going out for the night.
The most luxurious lipstick I own and love is the YSL Rouge Volupte in Lingerie Pink, a pretty baby pink. It is extremely creamy, opaque and literally drenches your lips with moisture. It feels absolutely dreamy on the lips, but unfortunately it doesn't have the same incredible lasting power as the other lipsticks.
Lastly is MAC Please Me, one of my latest additions to my MAC lipstick collection. It is a medium toned nude pink with a matte finish. It applies smoothly without dragging and sure has incredible lasting power too. I can't be sure whether it would work for all pale skin tones. I have neutral undertones and it completely works for me, I love it.
What lipstick will you be sporting today?
