Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette | Review and Swatches

Last year was the year I really got into eyeshadow and this particular eyeshadow palette is what kick started my obsession with them, the Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette. It has been used non stop over the last couple of months so it only felt right that it was given a bit more love and attention here on the blog.

The Vice 3 Palette is the third edition from the vice eyeshadow palette range, with the fourth having recently been released(do I need?).

Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette
Let me tell ya, the packaging is pretty spot on. The palette comes inside a bag, which by the way is super pretty, with the multitude of colours that looks like a beautiful sunset(same goes for the palette too). You could even use it as a makeup bag. The palette is super sleek and colourful with a very bright green 'vice' gracing the front. Upon opening you'll see a very large mirror which is perfect when you're travelling. Along with this is a dual ended brush with a blending and shadow side, which I am very happy about. I'm quite surprised by the quality of it, although I don't use the blending side of it, it's far too sparse for me. The shadow side is perfect for applying eyeshadow through the crease and under the bottom lash line though.

It's a very colourful palette with a range of shimmers, satins, metallics and mattes. You pretty much have every single shade you need here, from basic nudes to pops of blues and pinks. There are 20 eyeshadow shades, most of which are silky and smooth to apply. The pigmentation is as you'd expect from urban decay too, the lightest swipe is intense.
Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette SwatchesL-R; Truth, Dragon, Vanity, Alien, Last Sin, Undone, Freeze, Lucky, Alchemy, Angel
Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette Swatches L-R; Downfall, Heroine, Reign, Bondage, Defy, DTF, Brokedown, Bobby Dazzle, Sonic, Revolver

As scary and intense the brighter shades look in the palette you'd be surprised just how wearable the brighter shades look when on. I particularly enjoy using the shades Lucky, Alchemy, Undone, DTF and Sonic, although my favourite of them all is Bobby Dazzle, it has a very fitting name. I use this particular shade under the brow bone and in the inner corner of the eyes and boy does it make those eyes pop, and my brows more defined. One particular makeup look that I enjoy is Alien as the base shade, Alchemy all over the lid and lower lashline with DTF in the crease, and Bondage in the outer v. Of course we need a bit of Bobby Dazzle in the inner corners and under the brow bone too. It is a pretty intense pink smokey eye, which looks bloody incredible.

The swatches are not of the best quality(blame the british weather) but you'd be surprised just how pigmented they are. Yes, the matte shades have a little bit of fall out and doesn't pick up as much pigment as the shimmers but they're pretty damn good.

It is a bit pricey at £42, but for me, it's definitely worth that. Unfortunately it's not available anywhere as it's Limited Edition.

Because I Love Scented Wax Melts

Now this is a post that was supposed to go live a longgg time ago, the photos were prepped months ago and it completely slipped my mind. Now, I absolutely love candles, I'm completely and utterly besotted with them. There's rarely a time that you won't see one lit up in my lounge or bedroom. It gives off such a relaxing vibe, and of course has the added effect of making your house smell absolutely ahh-mazing.

I've gone through many a candle but there's one thing I've never really tried before, and that is wax melts. I don't know why, but I've never really took notice of them. That was until I became aware of Because I Love. They stock a range of hand made and hand poured soy wax scented melts, room fragrance sprays, reed diffusers and even oil burners too.

I was given the most wonderful opportunity to try five of their soy wax melts. I have Coco Vanilla, Coffee Creme Caramel, Wishy Washy, Figgy Fantastic and Lemon Meringue Pie. Before I go any further, I must stress that I was sent them a few months ago, which may result in them being unavailable to purchase, although Figgy Fantastic is the only wax melt that I have noticed to be in stock. Apologies!
Because I Love Scented Wax Melts
The soy wax melts came packaged within a medium sized paper bag, and within that bag the wax melts were individually wrapped in sealable plastic bags, to keep them fresh. Each of the wax melts also had sticky labels on the front with their names on with a cute red heart. Not all packaging has to be super fancy to impress. I like that it's quite 'raw', if that makes sense. After all they're all made by hand. Impressive right?

As you can tell, the majority of the Because I Love wax melts are in fact sweet scents, which may not be to all of your tastes. Coco Vanilla has to be my favourite of them all, with a combination of coco and vanilla, you can do no wrong. It has a fantastic scent throw off without being overwhelming. Even Josh enjoyed it. It made my lounge smell blooming amazing, and I really wish I could purchase this again. Where are you at cocovan? At this point I'm making a ridiculous sad emoji face. Ha, picture that.
Because I Love Scented Wax Melts
One that I didn't expect to enjoy as much as I did was Coffee Creme Caramel. I absolutely hate coffee with a passion. Yes, I'm one of those people, I dislike the taste of it, and the smell of it. That's what threw me. Maybe it's the combination of the caramel with the coffee which did it for me.

Unfortunately there were two wax melts that I was a bit on the fence about and disliked. They came in the form of Wishy Washy and Figgy Fantastic. As much as I like the smell of freshly washed clothing, I just couldn't cope with how it smelled throughout my lounge. It's just not for me. Figgy Fantastic was one that confused the hell outta me, I didn't know if I liked it or not at first but soon came to a conclusion that it wasn't for me. Again, it gave off a strong scent throw off, a little too overwhelming for me perhaps. As for Lemon Meringue Pie, damn, it smells exactly as it should, good enough to eat. It smells very fresh and lemon-y, obviously. My house is left smelling like a bakery, literally. So gorgeous. The Wax Melts are £1 each which is very inexpensive. I'm so sad they're not all available.

Best of Skincare 2015

Your skin is the most largest organ in the body so it's only right you look after it properly, right? Last year was the year where I dabbled with new brands, new products, and I finally stuck to a skincare regime with products that I know works for me and my skin. I think it's safe to say I swapped and changed my skincare around numerous times, especially when trying new products, but I'm so happy with it right now.

I made so many fantastic discoveries and I also fell in love with a new brand. 2015 was really a good year, in terms of skincare. With that aside, here is the Best of Skincare 2015

An all time favourite and one that I will forever repurchase is my beloved Garnier Micellar Water. It removes my makeup with ease and doesn't irritate my skin at all. Not to mention it lasts a bloody long time n' all. Well, two months at most if I'm lucky. Last year Garnier brought out another Micellar water, but dedicated to those with combination/sensitive skin, not that I can tell the difference but I love it nonetheless. If you haven't tried it, girl you've got to.

As I mentioned before, I fell in love with a new brand, Avene to be precise, and I have two favourites. They're both used within my skin routine at the moment, the Cleanance Cleansing Gel and Cleanance Expert. They do a fantastic job of ridding my skin of any dirt and grime, leaving my skin feeling soft and fresh. So beautiful! You can read up on them more here. They're fantastic for my spot prone skin.
Best of Skincare 2015
I finally tried the Pixi Glow Tonic that I have had on my wishlist for what seems like forever. I no longer have to deal with harsh scrubs now I use this, which I am so relieved about. It's super gentle on the skin and gets rid of any dry patches. It's a complete skin saviour. I am now on my second bottle of the stuff(I think), and nearly running out, boo. I need another. You can find out more about this little beauty here

Last year was the year I started delving more into the Bodyshop skincare. After reading multiple positive reviews on the Bodyshop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser I knew I had to have it. It blooming smells amazing(like zingy oranges), and my God does it make my skin feel soft too. I used it throughout the whole of the summer, I loved it soo much. I wrote a little post about this gorgeous moisturiser here.

One thing I couldn't be without throughout 2015 was a face mask, and my favourite was the Origins Clear Improvements Charcoal Face Mask. My skin constantly plays up and this is the mask that sorted it out. I don't know exactly how or what wreaks havoc with my skin, but by gosh is this a saviour when you're having one of those bad skin days, which for me lately, is pretty much all the time. Can't deal.

What were your favourite skincare products of 2015? I'd love to know. You can take a peek at my best of makeup 2015 here too.

Sleek Blush by 3 in Pink Lemonade

This has been a long time coming, I bought the Sleek Blush by 3 Palette in Pink Lemonade just over a year ago, but I've only started getting to grips with it recently. I have my fair share of blush products that I end up forgetting about them and they end up in the back of my muji drawers, unfortunately. How did I not start using it any sooner?
Sleek Blush by 3 in Pink Lemonade
Sleek Blush by 3 in Pink Lemonade
The blushes are contained within a rectangular black compact with the Sleek lettering on the front. It is a reasonable size and super sturdy too. Upon opening the palette you will find a generous sized mirror, which I love. It is very travel friendly and it comes in handy whenever you need to do any touchups.

The Pink Lemonade Blush by 3 Palette contains three full sized blushes, two of which are shimmer powders, and there's also a matte velvet cream blush too, to give more variety. They each have really cute names, from left to right is Pink Mint, Macaroon and Icing Sugar. Pink Mint is a pretty cool toned pink with silver shimmer, Macaroon is a medium toned pink, and Icing Sugar is a coral with golden shimmer. They are all equally beautiful, although I'm not so keen on the cream blush, just because I can't fully get used to the formula.

The pigmentation is insaane as I expected, although it can be built up to whatever intensity you desire. The powder formulas give off a beautiful luminosity and the cream blush adds a perfect natural flush to the cheeks. I know some shimmer blushes can be super intense but that's definitely not the case with these, they are seriously lovely.

All of the blushes are very wearable and to think that this palette is only £10 is incredible, although I must take notice of the current 2 for £10 off selected Sleek products in Boots and Superdrug at the moment. I fully took advantage of it recently.

You can find the Sleek Blush by 3 Palette in Pink Lemonade here from Boots.

My Current Favourite Nude Lipsticks

As a complete lip junkie I own a vast range of different lip products, mainly lipsticks. I just can't get enough of them, particularly the nudes. You just can't go wrong with a nude lipstick, can you? They're so easy to pull off, although you have to be super careful not to reach for that concealer shade, that does no girl any favours.

When I go all out on the eye makeup I tend to go for a nude lipstick to tone the look down and there are a few favourites that I reach for more than most. I have quite the selection of nudes so let's take a peek through my current favourite nude lipsticks shall we?
My Current Favourite Nude Lipsticks
So, starting with my two most loved nudes, MAC Brave and Clinique Beige Pop. Forget the whole Kylie Jenner trend, Brave is just an absolutely beautiful pink come brown toned nude(but leans more towards pink). It is so wearable and is quite the statement nude lipstick. Beige Pop again is a pink toned nude. It has such a lovely creamy finish and makes my lips feel silky smooth. I wrote a review and swatched my current lip pops here if you'd like to know more about them.

My favourite drugstore nude at the moment is from the Kate Moss Nude Collection called #45. I wish Rimmel lipsticks had creative shade names but what the heck, you can't have it all. It was recommended for those with neutral skin tones which I have and it works so well. I'm so bad at describing it but it's like a mauvey toned nude. It's ridiculously good.
My Current Favourite Nude Lipstick SwatchesL-R; Brave, Beige Pop, #45, Patisserie, Pure Hollywood

I didn't expect to find myself falling in love with a liquid lipstick, but I totally understand why they're so loved. My first liquid lipstick was Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood(I recently bought another). It's a stunning brown toned nude. I find it applies well and dries down to a matte finish within about a minute. Again, like my Mac Brave lipstick, it is one of those nudes that makes the lips stand out, but that's not a bad thing. It's absolutely gorgeous.

And lastly is another MAC lipstick in the shade Patisserie. It is a completely natural, neutral, pinky/peachy toned nude. You can't go wrong with this at all, it's not too opaque so it doesn't look like too much and gives my lips a natural shine. I love it.

Hollister Body Mists

Just a year ago I was introduced to the Hollister Body Mists by a fellow blogger friend of mine while we were out on a shopping trip, after a benefit event. They've been highly raved about and boy was I missing out. There was a special offer on all body mists, I think they were £14-£20 for both or something along those lines.

They're definitely not lacking in scents, there are a whole array to choose from, but I decided to pick up Palisades Beach and Silver Strand Beach.
Hollister Body Mists
The Palisades Beach Body Mist has a fruity combination of kiwi, pink grapefruit, sparkling bergamot and peach. It's a very  refreshing scent and very much reminds me of beautiful cocktails, sun and the beach. It's absolutely gorgeous. Although it's pretty much pinpointed as a summer scent it's one of those that you can spritz on the whole year through. I absolutely love it, although I can't say it's my favourite of the two that I own.

The Silver Strand Beach Body Mist is seriously incredible though, and deserves more recognition than it has had. In fact I think they all need it. Again, this mist is a fruity concoction of sparkling mandarin and peach blossom, but I feel like it smells quite like apricot too, although I don't think that's something that's included within it. Strange, but it smells so blooming good. This was my signature scent throughout the whole of the summer, and after that too. I got quite a lot of compliments when people have smelt it on me, and I've been asked what it was too.
Hollister Body Mists
The packaging has been updated and revamped which is so much better and contains 235ml which is very reasonable. They barely look like they've even been used. They will sure last me a while which is always a sure good sign you're onto a winner. Each of the Body Mists are individually £11 which might seem a bit steep for what is a body mist but give them a smell and tell me you don't love them as much as I do.

Best of Makeup 2015

So, 2015 was a year of many a makeup purchase and a loose purse. There were so many incredible beauty releases and although I didn't succumb to many of them I did decide to see what the hype was about certain products, and of course some of those that I had tested the waters with, I ended up loving, some even becoming a staple in my makeup routine, which is very rare as I like to change up my makeup most of the time.

As it's again another start to a new year I thought I would give you a roundup of my best makeup products of 2015. Be warned, it might just be a long one. High five if you get to the end of this post.
Starting with palettes, there were two eyeshadow palettes that completely stuck out for me, the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette and the Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette. 2015 was the year I started experimenting with eyeshadow a lot more and I grew to love experimenting  with different shades and finishes. The Chocolate Bar Palette is incredible to say the least, it includes everything you need, from soft mattes to beautiful shimmer shades. I love! (You can find a full review and swatches here). And as for the Vice 3 Palette, it's the most versatile palette I own with a fantastic range of brights and nudes. You can easily create any makeup look with it. I cannot get enough! I especially love the shade Bobby dazzle for a brow bone and inner corner highlight, it's so dreamy!

Talking of highlighters I have had two favourites over the course of a year, the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle and theBalm Mary Loumanizer(which sadly smashed to pieces but will be repurchasing in future). Soft and Gentle has been a favourite for a while, it's a beautiful glistening champagne shade which again is just incredible, it takes my base from dull to glowing. The Mary Loumanizer is a slightly intense gold shade which looks blooming amazing on the top of the cheekbones. I need another asap.

I've been using so many brushes this year but my favourite has to be the Keshima Flat Top Brush. It blends my foundation in with ease, leaving no streaks, just a nice smooth, flawless base.

Over the last couple of months of 2015 I very much got into the whole 'baking' technique and I just fell in love with how amazing it made my skin look. If you're a bit confused about it, you apply a loose powder over concealer and leave it for a while then swipe away. Doing this gives a beautiful glow to the skin. I seriously recommend giving it a go. My favourite loose powder to use is the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder. It's not cakey in the slightest and actually makes my skin feel so soft. You can take a look at my full review here to know more.
Best of Makeup 2015
I love a good defined brow! For months there was a lot of hype around Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, but I didn't jump onto the bandwagon until a while after. I have the shade Medium Brown which is the most perfect ashy brown. It gives my brows a lot of definition and makes them look very natural too. In conjunction with the pomade I also like to use the Brow Wiz(I ran out and have since repurchased) to fill my brows in. My brows are always on 'fleek' when using these two.

2015 was a year where I purchased a helluva lot of lip products, no regrets though! I have 3 favourites, can you tell I love my lipstick? First of all is the NARS Lip Pencils. I purchased both lip pencil sets from the Holiday collection(see here) and I fell in love with the shades and finishes. I always reach for them when I want a nice, defined lip. They're technically like a lip liner and lipstick in one. I reckon this year I'll be buying some more. There is one in particular that I've been using more than most called Luxembourg. It's a gorgeous pinky-red and it feels so moisturising on the lips. I love it. I also fell completely head over heels with the Clinique Lip Pop in Beige Pop upon it's release(see my lip pop review and swatches here). It's my perfect nude pink and it's so so cramy and just, ahh, amazing. I hae 3 more lip pop colours too but this particular shade has to be my favourite. My last lip favourite might not be a shock to you considering how much I've raved about it, is MAC Brave. It suits me down to a tee and goes with every makeup look. I absolutely love it and will repurchase once it's used up.

I never ever thought I would go along with the whole contouring hype, but alas I did, and I am glad. It makes such a difference and my favourite product to use is Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It makes my cheekbones look a lot more prominent but natural, and also gives a nice warmth to the rest of my face. I'm dreading this running out.

I have many foundations but one that I repurchased repeatedly over the course of 2015 is the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. It gives a lovely finish to my skin, it's not cakey at all and looks so so nice. The shade Porcelain is the perfect match to my skin tone too which is a massive thumbs up. You can see a full review here. And last but no means least is a mascara favourite, the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara(review here). It gives my lashes the volume and length they so desperately need and it's such a lovely intense black. I absolutely love it.

What were your favourite makeup products of 2015? I would love to know

New Year Resolutions and Blogging Goals

I realise this is a little late but Happy New Year! I hope you all had an amazing new years eve and so far had a brilliant start to 2016. Unfortunately my new years eve didn't exactly go to plan. Originally myself and Josh had planned a quiet night in with the TV and takeaway but there was a takeaway mishap(it turned up 2 hours late without the full order) and Josh slept through the new year, so there's me sipping on my nice, cold glass of wine saying happy new year to myself, haha. How did you spend your nye?

Anyway, with a new year comes a few resolutions, and I've set myself a few blogging goals along the way too. There's a few things that I want to improve in 2016, both blogging wise and personal.
New Year Resolutions and Blogging Goals
Firstly let's talk about my personal resolutions. As you may all know a year ago I gave birth to the most gorgeous cheeky chappy you could meet, but alongside that bundle of joy comes a few body issues. I have stretchmarks like any mother and I'm proud of them, but that's not my concern. Although I was quite slim before I was pregnant, I didn't exactly like my body, but at least then my stomach was toned. Of course now that's not the case, so my aim this year is to exercise more and tone my body.

Another resolution I've perhaps made over the last few years, but never completely met, was to drink a lot more water. Now, I know it is super important to drink at least 2 litres of water today but no, I'm completely useless. I cannot cope with the upteen amount of times I have to move to go to the loo. Honestly, it's ridiculous. However, I have reaped the benefits of drinking plenty of water before and so I hope to stick to it. I'm hoping it will do me and my skin a whole lot of good.

And my last resolution is to cut down on the takeaways. Last year I discovered the app Just Eat and I slowly became addicted. I loved how simple and easy it was to get a takeaway to my door so quickly and efficiently. This resulted in quite a few Chinese takeaways and greasy food which is clearly not good for me. This is one I am very determined to stick to. More home cooked meals for me.

It's not exactly a resolution but I'd like to spend more time together with Josh and Alfie as a family and have plenty of family days out. It seems to be a slight problem at the moment to have family time together as me and Josh both work and Alfie's getting to that stage where he's getting more active and becoming more interested in new things.

2015 wasn't my best year blogging wise, or so I think. I started the year with a newborn baby and so there wasn't much time for me to be sat here relaxing and typing up a post. I was constantly tired and ran down most of the time. Since all that's changed now I want to get more involved with my blog again and perhaps organise a schedule. I'm thinking maybe 2-3 posts a week on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. How does that sound? I really want to try my best to stick to it but sometimes there's things that happen that you can't control.

Photography has become quite an important aspect of my blog over the past year and I find myself becoming more determined to improve it. If you've seen my first posts when I first started blogging you'll see that there's been a massive improvement from then and now. I like my photos to be crisp and clean. I'm looking to hopefully save up some money this year for a new camera and great quality equipment to help take my photography to the next step. My iphone 5c just isn't cutting it for me anymore. If you have any advice about improving photos or camera recommendations then please let me know.

My last blogging goal is to attend more events and meet new bloggers this year. I have talked to so many amazing ladies(and gents!) last year and made some pretty great friends in the long run too.

What are your New Year Resolutions and Blogging Goals this year?
