A Christmas Lush Haul 2015

As of a few weeks ago the Christmas Lush Products were released in stores and online. Ooh I just couldn't contain my excitement. Initially I was thinking about ordering online as my nearest store is about an hour away by train but there's something so amazing and magical about browsing in store, or in my case a lot of purchasing, haha. This Lush Haul must be my biggest one yet but what girl can resist when you walk into a store full of an abundance of beautiful scents. Oh it's my idea of heaven.
A Christmas Lush Haul
I first tried the Lush Limited Edition Christmas range last year and I didn't get to try out as many products as I would've liked so going in store was a lovely change although it didn't help my spending. Lush has brung back a few favourites this year, from the Snow Fairy Shower Gel(so delish) to the Luxury Lush Pud. Two of my favourites. Unfortunately my local Lush store isn't the biggest and there was no sign of the Luxury Lush Pud which was a disappointment. However I discovered many new products, a few of which smell amazing and I can see myself stocking up on. You might want to grab yourself a cuppa or hot chocolate while reading this post, it's a long one.

So what festive treats did I purchase?

Well first up is the Star Dust Bath Bomb. It's not the most appealing bath bomb, it's quite small in size and not at all colourful like many others in the Christmas range. In fact it can be seen as quite basic and plain but what drawn me to it was how it smelled. I can only describe it as quite sweet but not overpowering with strong notes of vanilla. Seriously beautiful. I am yet to try it out.

This year resulted in a change to one of my favourite Christmas based products, the Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar. In my opinion I believe they have improved it. It looks super pretty and girly with the silver glitter and the silver ribbon and bell wrapped around it. It really rings Christmas and looks so appealing to the eye. As for the scent, it smells of the popular snow fairy scent. Again it's very sweet which I am a massive fan of. In fact I still have a small bottle of the snow fairy shower gel left over from last year. I do hope they carry on producing the magic wand and snow fairy for a while as it's one of my favourite.

As I was saying before, last year I made my first Lush order and that included the Butterbear Bath Bomb. I absolutely loved the way my skin felt while bathing with this. It made my skin feel so soft and moisturised. It's vanilla scented too. Can you tell I like the sweet scents? It's super cute and inexpensive too at just £1.95 which I believe is the cheapest bath bomb. I imagine Alfie would love a bath with the Butterbear too.
A Christmas Lush Haul
The Magic of Christmas Reusable Bubble Bar is probably the most creative and attractive bath bomb that I bought in this haul and it's entirely new to me. I can't be sure whether it's new to the Christmas range or not but I love it. It's a strange one though as it's cinnamon based. Cinnamon isn't a scent I've ever been able to get along with but this is different. It's not too strong and smells very Christmassy. There's no way I'll be using it just yet. I'll wait until it's closer to Christmas to get a better experience from it with the 'Christmas vibes'.

A favourite of many bloggers and 'lushies' alike is the Yog Nog Bath Bomb. A sweet smelling, toffee scented bath bomb which is said to be really moisturising. It smells unbelievably good. I can see myself stocking up on this just because of how good it smells.

After a lot of raves about the Cinders Bath Bomb in past #bbloggers chats on twitter I was looking forward to checking it out and I am pleasantly surprised. It smells incredible, it includes cinnamon which you now know isn't my favourite but I find it smells more fruity than spicy which I love. It also has popping candy which adds a lovely fun element to it.
A Christmas Lush Haul
Something I've been tempted to try for a while is the Refresher Shower Jelly. It smells exactly like those tasty, chewy refresher bars I've had since I was a kid. It is apparently best to be stored inside the fridge or freezer to give more of a refreshing feel in the shower which sounds good to me although it seems more suited towards summer. It's not part of the Christmas range but I thought I would include it anyway seeing as it is new to me.

A bath bomb that made me squeal with how cute and Christmassy it looks is the Father Christmas Bath Bomb. I don't know why but I thought it would smell a little spicy but in fact smells really sugary like candy floss which is very pleasant as I'm a lover of those kind of scents. I really can't wait to fizzle this out in the bath come Christmas.

Another favourite of mine is the Candy Mountain Bubble Bar, a very pleasant looking bubble bar with the snow fairy scent which is clearly one of my favourite scents. I wish it was slightly bigger though as I feel it won't last as long as the other bubble bars. It could probably stretch to three uses if you use a little bit at a time.

And lastly, the one I couldn't leave the store without, the Golden Wonder Bath Bomb. A very zesty, refreshing smelling bath bomb in the form of a golden present. It's so beautifully presented, I am a fan. I know I've said this a few times but this is definitely a favourite. I can't wait to pop this in my bath.

So there we have it, my Christmas Lush Haul. I'm already tempted to stock up on some of the Christmas range. It's the most exciting range and I really want to have some backups for when the christmas goodies are gone.

Have you hauled any Lush Christmas goodies yet? What are your favourites?

A New Concealer Favourite | Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

After much deliberation I finally decided upon purchasing the most raved about concealer I think I've heard about this year, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. I have seen so many people jump on the bandwagon and I truthfully didn't think I was going to either. In fact I thought it was going to be a disappointment for me but boy oh boy was I wrong. It is a cult favourite and I completely understand the hype around it now. This is some seriously amazing stuff, I have since bought my second tube of it. That is just how much I like it.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer
The Naked Skin Concealer comes in eight shades for a variety of skin tones. There's seriously a shade for everyone. I believe the lightest shade is Fair-Neutral which I have and is a fantastic match to my skin too. It's perfect.

I like to dot the concealer on my spots and cover any redness, blend that in with a sponge and it literally melts onto the skin so seamlessly. As for the under eyes, I like to apply it underneath the eye area in a triangle shape.  It makes my skin appear more radiant and beautiful. In fact I would go as far as saying it makes my skin look flawless. It's a fantastic all round concealer. I believe without this concealer my skin looks a little dull and lifeless. Like honestly, you could compare me to a zombie in the mornings before makeup application, haha.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer Fair Neutral Swatch
The formula of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer is super creamy and glides onto my skin like a dream, smoothing over any fine lines and pores. It's very lightweight and not too thick or thin, it's just in the middle with brilliant coverage. It has a clever applicator which is very flexible which makes it easier to get into all the smallest of places and feels very comfortable too. Don't you just hate those stiff applicators that feel rough? urgh. Now do you understand my love for this? I will go as far as to say that it completely overtakes my love for the NARS Creamy Concealer and that's saying a lot.

You can purchase the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer here at Debenhams for £19. It may seem a little expensive for a concealer but in my opinion it is worth it for incredible, brighter looking skin.

Have you tried the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer? What's your favourite all round concealer? I'd love your suggestions

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I am not the biggest buyer of mascara, I barely chop and change and stick to one that I know works well for me. For years I stuck by my trusty Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara but have since got bored with using the same thing. Since that little phase I have tried many different mascaras from a variety of brands and I have recently discovered a new favourite which comes in the form of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I only discovered it as it was becoming quite popular in the blogosphere and was said to be a dupe for the wonderful Benefit Rollerlash Mascara(which I am quite the fan of) so of course I had to jump on that bandwagon. I am so glad I did too. It is so identical to Rollerlash in so many ways.

The mascara has a curved plastic wand as opposed to fibre which I find to be handy at picking up even the tiniest lashes, particularly the ones in the inner corners of my eye but I do have to be careful, in fear of poking myself in the eye with it. Oh the pain! Seriously, I can be super clumsy at times. I'm the kind of person that trips over their own foot, haha.

The formula is slightly wet and a very intense black as you can see but dries down quite quickly although I close my eyes for a good couple of seconds to be on the safe side and prevent any transfer to my eyelid.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara does a fantastic job of lengthening and volumising my lashes without making them look tacky and clumpy. Urgh don't you just hate that when that happens? The plastic wand separates the lashes with ease. Sometimes just one coat of this mascara is enough to make my lashes look fluttery and thick but you can build it up with as many coats as you like for bigger and dramatic lashes if you wish.

There is absolutely no need to use an eyelash curler combined with this mascara either as I find that it holds a curl really well. Overall I absolutely adore it. I have used it non stop since buying it and I will definitely make a repurchase soon before it's finished up. It's quite inexpensive at just £7.99 for a 9.5ml tube. There is also a Waterproof version of the Lash Sensational Mascara too which I am planning to purchase and try out soon. You can purchase the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara here from Boots.

Clinique Lip Pop Colour and Primer Lipsticks | Review and Swatches

Just a couple of months ago in March was the launch of the Clinique Lip Pop Colour and Primer Lipsticks and boy are they beautiful. Just a year or so before this release Clinique launched their Cheek Pops which turned out to be a great success. It was only right that the Lip Pops followed in their footsteps too.

Admittedly Clinique is not a brand that I was familiar with beforehand and is entirely new to me. I am happy to say that my first impressions are good, although this is just from the cosmetics side of things and I am yet to try their skincare.
Clinique Lip Pop Colour and Primer Lipsticks
Clinique Lip Pop Colour and Primer Lipsticks
The packaging is a little different from the ol' bullet type lipstick packaging. They're rectangular shaped with the colours matching the shade inside which I love. It's easier to pick out a shade without looking at the shade name(which is located at the bottom).

There is an impressive shade range, including a fantastic 16 shades of the lip pops, four of which I have in my possession. There is a shade in many colour groups(nudes, pinks, purples, brights etc. I have Cherry Pop(a dark plummy-red), Beige Pop(a pink toned nude), Nude Pop(a pinky-beige) and Sweet Pop(a flattering, wearable pink).
Clinique Lip Pop Colour and Primer Lipsticks
Clinique Lip Pop Colour and Primer Lipstick SwatchesL-R; Sweet Pop, Beige Pop, Nude Pop, Cherry Pop

They're all super smooth, moisturising and buttery on the lips. The formula is seriously dreamy. I can't fault it. They glide onto the lips with ease, smoothing over any lines. The pigmentation is pretty insane as you can see too. Even the lighter nude shades are intensely packed with colour. I can apply the lip pops at around 2 in the afternoon and there will still be a sign of it come 9 at night. Pretty impressive right? That is some lasting power. But I do have to reapply after drinking or eating as it wears off a little and turns into a slight 'stain' on the lips.

The lip pops were described as being a lip colour and primer in one and rightfully so. Out of the four shades I own I have to say my favourite is Beige Pop. It suits my skin down to a tee and goes with any makeup look. I absolutely adore my other shades too although Cherry Pop is a little bit daunting for me as I don't normally opt for darker shades. It's a nice change from the norm though.

I don't think I have been this besotted with a range of lipsticks since MAC. I have Poppy Pop on my list to buy next. You can purchase the Clinique Lip Pop Colour and Primer Lipsticks for £16.50 from Debenhams here. Reasonable? For a high end brand I tend to think so. If you haven't tried out the Lip Pops then I highly suggest you do.

September Beauty Favourites

Well if it isn't October already. Whoah, where's September gone? The last month has gone by with a blink of an eye. I barely purchased any beauty products during the month of September. What's wrong with me?! Instead I decided to shop my stash. I buy so many products that I always end up storing them away in their drawers and forget about them. Does anyone ever do that or is it just me? I have to say it felt good to delve through my makeup storage and use some products I haven't yet tried.

September was really a great month in terms of finding new favourites. I delved into the world of Makeup Revolution and I even have another fragrance favourite which is rare for me. I normally stick to the same thing.

So what are my September Beauty Favourites? Well let's start with Makeup Revolution. A brand that is completely new to me, although I've read many positive reviews, which led to me buying these two lovely palettes. First up is the Makeup Revolution Highlight Palette. As far as I'm aware this is the lightest of two highlighter palettes and I absolutely adore this. I've used it non stop and I find the lightest shade to be my favourite of the three. There will be a full review of this beautiful palette up on the blog soon if you'd like to know more.
September Beauty Favourites
The second palette in question is the Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice. It's been used pretty much daily and I love every single shade in the palette which is very unusual as I don't always use all the shades in a palette. There is a mix of matte and shimmer blushes, a baked blush and a highlighting shade. I have to admit my most used is the baked blush(in the bottom row at the end). It is super pretty and pigmented(as are all the other shades) and gives a beautiful glow to my cheeks.

With Makeup Revolution aside, I have found my new HG concealer. Yes it's really that good to be called my HG. Okay so it's my first purchase of it and I'm already dreading it running out and looking to purchasing another. It is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. It has covered up my imperfections so well and it does a fantastic job of covering up my eye bags in the mornings. It's seriously good.

My newest fragrance favourite is Paco Rabanne Lady Million. I've had it for a while but I've only started using it. It is really quite fitting for this season. I can only describe it as quite a grown up scent. It's very sophisticated and has a slight spicy feel to it. It smells so good and it lingers on my skin for a good couple of hours too. It's such a beautiful scent, I love it. I'm sure I'll be spritzing this perfume through to the end of the year.

An eyeshadow palette that I have been raving about so much for god knows how long through Twitter is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. It's every beauty bloggers dream, honestly. It's beautifully pigmented, smells of chocolate and each eyeshadow blends so well. There's not one bad shade in there at all. If you'd like to know more about this eyeshadow palette then you can read the review here. There are some swatches too.

Lastly is my newest favourite powder which comes in the form of Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot. As someone with combination skin a powder is a must to cancel out the shine and this powder does just that. I love it so much that I'm opting for it over my MAC MSFN. I recently wrote a review about this powder on the blog here if you'd like to know more details.

Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot

For a while I had been looking for a new drugstore powder. I have been using the same powder(MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural) for the longest time and I wanted to change it up. At least two years to be precise. I've tried so many powders over the years from different brands but none of them have really stuck with me apart from my MAC MSFN.

On the hunt for a new powder in Boots a while ago there was one in particular that caught my eye which was Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot. I have tried a few products from Soap and Glorys makeup line and I've always been quite impressed so it only felt right to give this a go.
Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot
Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot
Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot comes packaged within a sleek black plastic compact with a mirror inside. There is also a powder puff inside which comes in handy if you're in need of a top up or two throughout the day. Due to the plastic packaging it is easy to travel with too. I like to pop this in my bag wherever I'm going and the powder has stayed put within the compact. Touch wood it stays that way. I've had too much bad luck the last month with two of my products breaking into pieces. Sad times.
Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot
The powder has the cutest embossed design spelling out the word 'powder' with two stars surrounding it. It's almost too cute to touch but unfortunately now it's been dented with my persistent daily use.

It is also finely milled and translucent which is music to my ears. Completely colourless and doesn't offer any coverage whatsoever. It is simply a mattifying powder that absorbs oil. It is suitable for all skin types including those with sensitive skin. Thankfully it doesn't compromise my makeup underneath and leaves my skin looking shine and oil free. It's almost invisible on the skin and doesn't leave a cakey finish. In fact it looks flawless. A big claim but it's incredible. Seriously, I'm loving this so much. It's now become a staple in my makeup routine. At just £12 from Boots I really can't complain. I will be rather disappointed when I run out.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette | Review and Swatches

For the last month or so I have really been enjoying doing my eye makeup and experimenting with a whole array of different shades. I've been using one eyeshadow palette more than most which comes in the form of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. It is one of two palettes that I have in my possession from Too Faced and I am so impressed. I am so glad the brand is more readily available to buy in the UK.

The packaging of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette is aesthetically pleasing. Seriously, a girl loves chocolate but a chocolate bar eyeshadow palette? Complete genius.

The palette is very sturdy with the tin packaging and has a magnetic closure which I find so satisfying. It also has a decent sized mirror within it too so it's brilliant for travelling with. You can simply apply your makeup from the palette without needing another mirror on your travels.

It holds a great 16 shades of which are both matte and shimmer formulas although the majority are shimmers with very few matte shades which are perfect as a transition shade in the crease. Oh and did I mention they were all made from 100% natural cocoa powder? Oh yes, you really do get a good ol' whiff of the chocolatey goodness once you open this beauty up.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette SwatchesMiddle Row; Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-Sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette SwatchesBottom Row; Hazelnut, Creme Brûlée, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle

As you can see there is a fantastic variety of shades of which are mainly warm toned but work well for both night and daytime looks. All shades are easily blendable, soft and incredibly pigmented although the swatches do not do them much justice at all. God, it is so difficult to get good lighting since the seasons have changed.

For a daytime look I've been using the shade White Chocolate as a base shade with Creme Brûlée on the outer of my lid with Marzipan in the inner part of my lid and Milk Chocolate in the crease. It looks so beautiful and it can be changed to a night look within seconds just by applying the shade Semi-Sweet through the outer v and crease. The shade Champagne Truffle has to be my favourite within the palette though. It's an incredible highlight shade, it really opens the eyes when used in the tear duct and emphasises the brow bone.

The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette is the ultimate eyeshadow palette in my opinion(at the moment) and I will for sure be using it to death this A/W.

You can purchase the Too Faced Palette via Debenhams here for £39. It may seem a little steep but definitely worth purchasing.

The Bodyshop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser

A few months ago I ran out of my beloved Origins Ginzing Moisturiser and I was truly gutted at the loss. As a replacement I decided upon purchasing the alleged dupe for it, The Bodyshop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser.

My first thoughts upon buying it was oh my god, it smells incredible, like honestly. Have a whiff of this and fall in love. It smells really fresh, of oranges. Putting the scent aside, the formula is pretty brilliant too. It's of a gel formula which is pretty perfect for my skin type(I have combination skin if you don't know). It is also incredibly lightweight and not greasy in the slightest.

You only need a pea size of the moisturiser on each part of the face, a little goes a longgg way. I find it sinks into my skin very quickly too, leaving my skin feeling super soft and moisturised. I like to leave it to sink into the skin for a good 5 minutes before applying my makeup.
The Bodyshop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser
The Bodyshop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser
The Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser is exactly that. It really adds a little glow to the face, not the type where you've just been for a run and there's sweat dripping down your face, oh no. It is such a beautiful, radiant glow and I imagine it would look very lovely and give an almost anti-ageing effect on the more mature skin.

The Bodyshop has really got this moisturiser spot on and for just £16 and the occasional 30-40% offers that they hold I will not be shelling out more money and returning to my Origins GinZing Moisturiser just yet. You can purchase the Bodyshop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser here

Sebamed Cleansing Bar | Review

As you may already know I suffer from acne, not entirely as serious as cystic acne but I do get it on my body as well as my face. As you can imagine body acne isn't exactly a confident booster for me so I'm always on the lookout for products that can help rid my skin of the little nasties.

I find it difficult to find a brand or even a product that contains acne fighting ingredients or doesn't dry my skin out so  when I was introduced to Sebamed and was offered a chance to try their Cleansing Bar out I jumped at the chance.
Sebamed Cleansing Bar
Sebamed Cleansing Bar
The Sebamed Cleansing Bar is formulated for all skin types thankfully and is also soap-free so no chance of drying the skin out. It also includes vitamins and moisturising amino acids which of course means soft and supple skin. Honestly, my skin feels so much smoother after using it.

The cleansing bar is of a curved shape which I find to be very clever as it is so much easier to grip onto in the bath or shower. A normal bar of soap would slip out of your hands almost instantly after contact with water. It's almost like a massage bar.

With all that aside I have to say I'm quite impressed with the Sebamed Cleansing Bar. I find it cleanses the skin really well and draws out all the dirt lying under the surface. It weighs in at 150g so I can see it lasting me a long time. In fact mine still looks as good as new.  I'm so glad that I discovered this. If you suffer from body acne yourself like me then I highly recommend that you try the Sebamed Cleansing Bar. You can purchase it from Feel Unique here for £3.99.
