Spring and Summer Blush and Highlighter Picks

The weather here in Devon has drastically changed from the amazing Summer like weather we had during the weekend. The sun didn't last here for long unfortunately but that's Devon(and the majority of the UK) for you. Typical british weather.
Summer is on it's way though so let's hope the weather is looking up again. Fingers crossed!

Anyway as I have mentioned before I love the transition from Spring to Summer. I don't normally switch up my makeup routine much during the seasonal changes. I very rarely wear a dark lipstick or over the top eye makeup. I can always be seen sporting a bright lip, a neutral eye and a slightly dewy, healthy complexion throughout most seasons.

At the moment my makeup routine mainly consists of a foundation, highlighter and blush. They always perk up my complexion during the spring and summer and takes my complexion from dull to healthy which I love. I don't know how I went without a highlighter and blush in my routine for the last few years. They are definitely a 'face changer' so to speak.

Here are my top 2 picks of blush and highlighters that are guaranteed to brighten up your face and get you spring and summer ready!

Spring and Summer Blush and Highlighter Picks
Spring and Summer Blush and Highlighter Picks

First up is the SEVENTEEN Instant Glow Shimmer Brick which I purchased over a month ago from Boots. I have it in the shade 'Pink Bronze' which is an absolutely gorgeous champagne/bronze/pink shade which I am in love with. You can mix up the four layers together to highlight areas such as down the nose, cupids bow, inner eye area and the top of your cheekbones for a gorgeous glow. It is so versatile, you can also choose to use just one of the layers for highlighting, contouring or you could even dust them onto your eyelids as an eyeshadow. It is an incredible product but I only like to use this for highlighting. If you'd like to learn more about this beauty keep your eyes peeled, there will be a review up on my blog soon. You can purchase this in another shade too called 'gold bronze' for an even deeper bronzed glow, they just cost £4.99 and there is 3 for 2 on all SEVENTEEN products too.

It's hardly a surprise to me that I've included theBalm Frat Boy Shadow/Blush in my top picks. It is a beautiful peachy/pink shade that is definitely guaranteed to add a healthy flush of colour to the cheeks during the s/s. It is very much a matte blush and there is absolutely no hint of shimmer in it at all. The blush is very versatile as it can be used as a shadow as well as just a blush but I find it looks better on the cheeks. I imagine this would look great on a variety of skin tones. I have quite pale skin and it works incredibly well for me. I wrote a full review on theBalm frat boy shadow/blush here if you'd like to take a peek.

Ahh, the much coveted MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle, what a shocker! I have so much love for this little beauty. It is a stunning champagne shade which gives the look of luminous, glowy skin. I like to apply it to the higher points of my cheekbones with my Real Techniques blush brush. Although there is quite a lot of shimmer it doesn't make your skin look overly glittery which is obviously not a good look. Who wants to look like a disco ball? It catches the light so well during Spring/Summer. I wrote a full review on the MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle here if you'd like to learn more about it.

And finally, the Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Sweet Cheeks. I only bought this a few weeks ago in yet another boots haul and I love it already. I may have only bought it a few weeks ago but it's always in my makeup bag and I've found myself reaching for it almost every day. It is quite a subtle pink shade that gives a natural hint of colour to my cheeks. It's not overly pigmented like the fratboy blush but it's just as good. It's not too overwhelming on the cheeks either and doesn't cause those dreaded 'clown cheeks', urgh. Don't you just hate that? I loved this blush so much that I just had to purchase another two. This blush is so inexpensive at just £1.99! That's brilliant, right?

Boots Botanics 100% Rosewater Toning Spritz | Review

Over the last few months I have been switching up and trying new products and I have fallen head over heels in love with one product in particular recently, the 100% rosewater toning spritz from the Boots Botanics range. I couldn't resist popping it in my virtual online basket with the offer of 1/3 off skincare.

I haven't tried anything from the Boots Botanics range before, it was the first product I have tried and I've been using it so often now that it's become a staple in my skincare routine and let me tell you why.

Boots Botanics 100% Rosewater Toning Spritz

The Boots Botanics 100% Rosewater Toning Spritz is 100% organic with ingredients such as glycerin, water, alcohol denat and also includes the beautifully fragranced rosewater which is said to be a great ingredient as it has been used for years to cleanse and tone the skin. It is not formulated with any parabens and it's not packed full with many ingredients like other products I have used in the past.

The packaging of this product is a tall, thin, white spritz bottle which is made using a 25% of recycled content. It is full to the brim with 150ml of the toning spritz and it has lasted me quite a long time. I purchased it nearly over a month ago now and I still have so much left to use. I am not in a rush to purchase another just yet. I think this may last me another month.

When I purchased this I wasn't actually expecting to like it, I was a bit apprehensive about it at first but the first time I tried it I was head over heels in love with it and I just can't get enough of it. It has the most gorgeous aroma, it's lightly scented with the beautiful rosewater. It makes me feel so relaxed so it's hardly surprising that I enjoy it. It may not be to everyones taste though so I highly suggest you spritz it before purchasing.

The instructions are to close your eyes and spritz onto the skin and wipe it away with a cotton pad but I leave it to sink into the skin instead of wiping away. I don't understand these instructions but I love my way of doing it as I feel it works better for me.

I close my eyes and lightly mist this onto my face 3 times either side of my face and in front and on my neck but I always leave a bit of distance between the spray itself and my face. I do this both day and night after cleansing to tighten the pores and remove the remaining makeup on my face. I also apply it sometimes during the day to refresh. I didn't used to be all that into toner but I can't be without this in my skincare routine at the moment.

It sinks quickly onto my skin, giving my face an instant refresh and a slight tingling feeling which I quite like. It completely revitalizes and awakens my skin, it's perfect for those hot, humid days. It transforms my skin from dull to fresh and clean within seconds of spritzing. It will definitely come in handy for me this summer. That's one thing I need to pop into my beach bag!

As you probably know I have oily/acne-prone skin and I struggle to find products that don't exacerbate the problem but this does just the opposite for my skin. When I'm struggling with breakouts this little baby helps to soothe and calm my skin and does a great job of removing all traces of makeup.

After use my face feels fresh, clean and so so smooth, it is incredible. It is definitely one to rave about especially if you have the same skin type as myself.

I can't rave about this enough, I really want to try out more from the Boots Botanics range. You can purchase the Boots Botanics 100% Rosewater Toning Spritz from Boots online or in store just £4.

Have you tried the Boots Botanics 100% Rosewater Toning Spritz?

Spring and Summer Lipstick Picks

The sun has been beaming bright over the last few days and I have been loving it. Gone are the rainy days and cold weather and the sun is back, but for how long? I love the transition from winter to spring and summer, it must be one of my favourite times of the year. It's a great, fun time of the year with family gatherings, beach fun, barbeques and so much more. One thing I love to do during this time of the year is bring out those bright colours, whether it's a beautiful vivid lipstick or vibrant, almost neon clothing.

You can always see me sporting a bright lipstick especially pinks or corals, they are my all time favourite shades. A bright lip colour always makes me feel a whole lot better and confident. I have a huge stash of lipsticks and I have only been reaching for 5 of them over the last few weeks and I absolutely adore them all.

Here are my top 5 lipstick picks!

Spring and Summer Lipstick Picks
Spring and Summer Lipstick Picks
Bourjois Lip Crayon in Peach on the Beach

I absolutely love this lip crayon, it's the most beautiful peachy-pink shade. I'd say it's quite a neutral shade rather than a bright 'out there' shade as the pigmentation isn't exactly incredible. This lip crayon is an instant pick me up which gives a lovely, subtle, sheer wash of colour to the lips. It is extremely wearable and perfect for everyday use when you don't want to glide on a bold lipstick.

I have so many pink lipsticks in my stash and I have been opting for this MAC lipstick in Saint Germain recently over the others. It's a ravishing baby pink shade but cool toned so it looks great on my pale-fair skin. It's of the cremesheen formula which I happen to love. It feels matte but incredibly creamy on the lips and the pigmentation is as you'd expect in a high end lipstick, it's incredible and opaque in one swipe. If you're looking to invest in this lipstick check out my dupe post here to find a cheaper alternative.

Topshop Lipstick in Charmed
I only just bought this off a blogsale a few weeks ago. It's my first topshop makeup purchase and I was in love with this from the first swipe. It's definitely out of my comfort zone as it's quite a flamboyant apricot-orange shade which I've never tried before. It doesn't wash me out like I thought it would, it glides nicely onto the lips and the texture of the lipstick is very smooth and velvety which I adore.
Spring and Summer Lipstick Swatches
This has to be my favourite of them all, it's a vivacious coral-pink that looks very 'out there' and phenomenal on the lips. It's definitely a lip colour that makes you stand out from the crowd. The Revlon Lip Balm has a matte finish but also feels super moisturising on the lips too. It has great lasting power and I only need to swipe this onto my lips again 3 hours after applying which is impressive.

Every girl needs a nude lipstick in their collection and this is my favourite. It's a very sweet, light pink that is a 'my lips but better' shade that gives a sheer wash of colour. It's of the glaze formula and it feels so buttery soft once applied but if you haven't exfoliated the lips beforehand it can make dry patches look very prominent. My lips always look glossy and as it's a glaze formula it gives off a beautiful sheen too. It is incredibly wearable and I always pair this with either a neutral eye or black liner for a toned down look.

Harper's Bazaar Birchbox May 2014

Over the last few months I have been deliberating about subscribing to a beauty box as I've heard so many wonderful things about them. I love the thought of having a box of goodies being delivered to my door and not knowing what I will receive. It is so exciting. I finally came to the decision of subscribing to Birchbox thanks to the lovely Gemma(GemmaEtc) with her cheeky preview of the beautiful harpers bazaar box on Instagram. I just couldn't resist it. It's my very first birchbox and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Please take your time to appreciate the design of the Harper's Bazaar Birchbox, isn't it beautiful? It's definitely spring/summer inspired with the floral and peacock theme and bright, attractive colours. It's extremely appealing to the eye.

The theme for the Harpers Bazaar Birchbox is the Great Outdoors."It's that time of the year when you're itching to get outside and explore the great outdoors whether that means a picnick in a park or a ramble through the woods". The Birchbox includes a Great Outdoors Beauty Guide which is a mini magazine full to the brim with information on all products featured in the Birchbox and a few tutorials and tips too.

The Birchbox also included an incredible Harpers Bazaar offer, a subscription of £12 for 12 issues of Harper's Bazaar Magazine. It's a fantastic offer which I am really tempted to take advantage of- it's a saving of 76% and only £1 per issue. Offer ends on 30th June 2014.

I don't know why but I was kind of expecting it to be a bigger sized box but I was astonished to see a lovely full sized product and a few sample sized products packed inside the white drawstring bag with a touch of turquoise. It's like they read my mind, I have been loving the colour turquoise lately.

Let's get down to the contents now shall we?

I received a full sized nail polish(non-toxic) from a brand I have never heard about before called Soigne. It's the most beautiful red shade named Pomegranate. I actually don't have a red nail polish in my collection at all so this is definitely a welcome addition. The nail polish comes in lovely white packaging enclosed in two pieces of foam to keep it from breaking. The packaging looks so luxurious and expensive. I can't wait to use it.
(The Full Size, £11)

I was so excited to see a liberal 30ml sample size of the cult favourite Liz Earl Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and muslin cloth carefully wrapped up in tissue paper. I have never tried the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish before but I had previously been thinking about purchasing it beforehand. I love that it comes with a muslin cloth too. I can try before I decide if I want to purchase a full size, how brilliant. It's all natural with ingredients including rosemary, chamomile, cocoa butter and eucalyptus essential oil. I am looking forward to trying this out.
(Full Size, £13.25)

Next is the Benefit They're Real! Mascara. I admittedly haven't tried many products from Benefit before so I was very excited to receive a 3.0g sample size of the Benefit They're Real! Mascara. There seems to be a love/hate relationship surrounding this product so I'm intrigued to try it out to see if I'll enjoy it.
(Full Size, £19.50)

I also received a 3ml sample size of the Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath and Shower Oil. For some bizarre reason the scent of this reminds me of the Vicks Vaporub. You know the stuff you rub onto your chest, back and neck to get rid of a blocked nose and common cold? Yeah, that stuff. It smells so strong but refreshing if that makes sense. I haven't tried it yet but I can't wait to try it out in my morning shower or bath as it's supposed to wake you up. It sounds like something that's going to come in handy when waking up at the early hours of the morning.
(Full Size, £39)

Last but not least is the Beauty Protector Protect Shampoo and Conditioner duo. I love that they come together and not seperately so you can use them together. They smell lovely and they are both sulfate and paraben free and also suitable for all hair types which I love. I haven't tried any new shampoo and conditioners for a while so I am curious to see if they'll make a difference to my hair.
(Full Size, £14 each)

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water | Review

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
So I've probably mentioned this a gazillion times, so sorry if I'm repeating myself but recently I have become sooo obsessed with skincare. I have always been quite nervous and petrified about switching up my skincare routine as I have quite horrible oily, acne-prone skin. I was afraid some products may worsen my skin and cause yet another terrible breakout but lately that's obviously not been the case.

I've switched up my normal cleansers and moisturisers for new products except from the good ol' La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+. This baby is my spot zapper and works amazing so no chance of me settling for anything else just yet.

Anyway, as mentioned I have changed up my normal everyday cleansers. I always double cleanse so I have two different cleansers I use. One for removing my makeup and another for a deep cleanse. It's better to be safe than sorry right?

The makeup remover that I have been using for the last month is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Okay, so I've only just jumped onto the micellar water bandwagon but I didn't see what all the hype was about at the time. It just never seemed appealing to me, until now of course. Bioderma took the blogging world by storm at first but I didn't want to pay such a hefty price for something that I couldn't be sure would work for me so Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water seemed to be the perfect place to start and let me tell you, I am in love.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
The packaging is so appealing, there's just something about a transparent bottle that I  love. The bottle contains approximately 400ml of the cleansing water and you can apparently get 200 uses out of it which is great. I've used it so many times and there is still plenty left for me to use.

To remove my makeup I pour the cleansing water onto a cotton pad and massage it into the skin using circular motions and it lifts all makeup away from my skin with ease. I don't need to rub it into the skin very harshly, it removes with a gentle touch. Eye makeup is a different story though, it takes a while to remove but I tend to leave it to soak onto the eyes and remove away gently after 5-10 seconds. I only need at least 2 or 3 cotton pads to remove my entire made up face. It doesn't leave my face dry or strip any oil away from the skin, it's suitable for even the most sensitive skin and it leaves my face feeling refreshed and immensely clean.

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water has reduced my skincare routine a great deal. Before I was introduced to it I was very taken with my Olay Cleansing Milk and have been for years. I always used to spend at least a good ol' 5 minutes to remove my makeup but now it takes at least 2 minutes which is always a good thing.

I wasn't expecting to like this when I bought it I must admit but I am so delighted that I decided to purchase it. It's reduced my skincare routine in a considerable amount of time and it does just the job of getting rid of makeup without exacerbating my skin. I can't rave about this stuff enough! If you haven't tried this cleansing water I highly suggest you do.

You can currently buy it from Boots online here for just £3.33 which is reduced down from £4.99.

Revlon Colorburst Matte and Lacquer Balm Collection | Review and Swatches

There was a massive hype surrounding the Revlon Colorburst Lacquer and Matte Balms a few months ago when they were released in January and I couldn't resist picking a few of them up especially when there was a Boots 3 for 2 offer on at the time. How am I supposed to resist? Although the hype surrounding them has started to die down a little I am still very much in love with them all.

I have 2 of the Lacquer Balms in Demure and Coquette and they are just perfect for a subtle hint of colour to the lips. The shade Demure translates as a beautiful light pink nude shade onto the lips and would suit any skin tone and the shade Coquette is a beautiful mid toned pink which looks almost barbie like.
Revlon Colorburst Matte and Lacquer Balms
Revlon Colorburst Matte and Lacquer Balms
I also have the Matte Balms in the shades Mischievous, Elusive, Unapologetic and Showy. Mischievous is a beautiful orange shade which is quite light in colour, not too bright and it didn't wash my pale skin out which is always a good thing. Elusive is a nude pink shade which looks great when paired with a smokey eye, it's so wearable and I imagine it would suit all skin types as it's so easy to pull off. My favourite of them all is Unapologetic, it's a gorgeous coral-pink which is bright and out there but in a great way. It's the perfect, bright summer shade and it makes my teeth appear whiter which I have to say I adore. Last but not least is Showy, it's an almost Barbie pink, it's not too bright but not too dark, it's just in between which I love.

The Revlon Colorburst Lacquer and Matte Balms come in plastic twist up crayon type packaging which I find absolutely lovely. No sharpener required here ladies!

One thing that I absolutely love about the Matte Balms are that although they are deemed to be a matte finish they are actually super moisturising too. Exactly like the lacquer balms but the pigmentation is of a higher quality. They glide onto the lips with ease without any dragging on the lips, leaving an almost velvety but matte feeling. They are not too drying on my lips and leave a stain on the lips after at least 2-3 hours of wear, maybe less.

The Lacquer Balms are sheer with high shine and a pop of colour, not as pigmented as the matte balms but they are of a fab calibre. They are so hydrating on the lips which is of no surprise to me as they are infused with a triple butter complex of shea, coconut and mango butter(as are the matte balms). After about 2-3 hours of wear they leave a subtle stain on the lips. They also have hints of glitter which give that high shine effect and makes my lips appear glossy once applied onto the lips.

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm Swatches
Both of the lacquer and matte balms have the most beautiful scent, they smell like peppermint which I surprisingly don't find offputting at all. I actually quite like the smell. Overall, I am besotted with these balms! They are super hydrating, not too drying on the lips and the shade range is incredible. There is something for everyone.

You can purchase both the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms for £7.99 from Feel Unique but you can also find them in your local Superdrug or Boots.

Boots Haul #2

Boots Haul
I can't seem to go through town without popping into good ol' Boots. It's just far too tempting especially with the 3 for 2 offer back on again. How are we supposed to resist? I swear they see us bloggers heading their way.

I must have gone in and out of Boots at least 3 times, maybe more, the shop assistants and the security guard must have thought I was strange, haha. I honestly didn't go into Boots to buy anything, just to have a look around but all the 3 for 2 signs were staring right at me and I came away with a few things in my bag so yes, this is another Boots Haul ladies! I have zero willpower and I'm sooo terrible with money. If you like you can take a peek at my previous Boots Haul here.
Quick Fix Facials Masks
Boots Haul
Boots Haul
I was looking around for a new exfoliating scrub that was quite inexpensive and I came across the Quick Fix Facials Exfoliating Scrub Mask in the skincare aisle and picked it up straightaway. It's an exfoliating mask rather than a normal exfoliator which is interesting. I seem to have an obsession with face masks lately so of course I had to pick up another face mask too so I picked out the Quick Fix Facials Anti-Blemish Mud Mask. They were both on special offer for £3.00 down from £4.99 so it only came to £6.00. Not bad eh? It's a small saving but a saving nonetheless.

I also picked up two Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in the shades Pink Cloud and Peach Melba. They're both inexpensive at £1.99 each and both beautiful shades. I also got 50 extra points for buying a Natural Collection product, yippee. I got one of them free due to the 3 for 2 offer.

I have been lusting over the L'Oreal Superliner Ultra-Precision for absolute ageees and I couldn't find it in stock anywhere so when I seen it back in stock again I was ecstatic and grabbed it instantly. I am sooo excited to use this as I haven't tried another liquid liner other than my beloved Rimmel Glam'eyes liner for months. Talk about commitment eh?

I can never walk past any Barry M counter without purchasing a new nail polish. I was really struggling to pick out just one but I eventually chose the Barry M Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Sugar Apple. It's a lovely bright pastel mint shade, I imagine I'll be wearing it a lot during the up and coming Summer months.

Finally, I made another cheeky nail polish purchase. I read through a review on the Maybelline Color Show Bleached Neon Polishes and I fell in love instantly, I knew I had to have them. I couldn't resist picking them up as they're oh so beautful and vibrant. Just my kinda' thing! I bought them in two shades, Tropink and Coral Heat

Have you tried any of these products?

Monu Brightening Boost | Review

Monu Brightening Boost
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to come across a brand that was new to me called Monu on twitter. Monu Skincare believe that the products bring out the best in you and your skin by using ingredients that are derived from nature. Every product contains unique formulations that utilise the special properties of pure, natural ingredients using plants, herbs, minerals and essential oils. As you can imagine, MONU formulations do not contain any damaging chemicals, artificial perfumes or synthetic colours and they also do not test their products or ingredients, on animals. Amazing, right? I love this.

When Monu offered me a chance to try one of their products I jumped at the chance and it comes in the form of the Monu Brightening Boost and oh my, I am in love, literally. I posted a litle mini review on this here and I must say it is all still positive.

I absolutely love the packaging, it's a slim 15ml bottle which almost looks like it has somewhat of a frosted glass effect which makes it look just that little more lavish which I have to say I quite like.
Monu Brightening Boost
The Monu Brightening Boost is of a lightweight, creamy consistency which contains vitamin c, niacinamide and hexapeptide-2 which says it will reduce sun damage, hyperpigmentation including age spots. It is actually recommended for mature and sun-damaged skin which I thought was a little odd but I managed to overlook it. I can't exactly comment on whether it reduces sun damage as I don't have any but I do have hyperpigmentation from previous acne which was a little reduced while using the Monu Brightening Boost, hallelujah!

I apply the Monu Brightening Boost onto my face before my moisturiser most mornings when I'm up early in the morning and I want that extra boost to make me look a little more I don't know, alive, haha.

It is actually pretty great. I dispense at least 2 pumps of the product into the palm of my hand and massage well into my face and oh my, it soaks and blends into my skin like a dream. It soaks in so quickly leaving my skin looking radiant and incredibly hydrated. It's so hydrating that I think it would work doubled up as a moisturiser too. Why not skip the moisturiser and just use this on it's own.
Monu Brightening Boost
Monu Brightening BoostBlended

I imagine it would make a difference to anyone of any age whether you're in you're 20's, 30's or 50's. Hell, you can even use it in your 70's or 80's! I'm just lost for words about this product, it just makes a whole lot of difference to my normally dull, oily/combo skin.

Overall, I am completely, utterly besotted! Once I run out of the Monu Brightening Boost* I will be purchasing it without a doubt. It gives me the most gorgeous, fresh, luminous complexion which I absolutely love. You will definitely not need to use a highlighter alongside this. It is absolutely perfect for brightening and perking up the skin. Highly recommended!

You can purchase the Monu Brightening Boost from Monu for £22.50.

My May Beauty Wishlist

I finally reached 300 followers today and I am absolutely ecstatic so thankyou so much to everyone who follows my blog, both old and new. If you're new to my blog every month as well as monthly favourites I also show you the current beauty products that are on my wishlist at the moment. Take a look at last months Beauty Wishlist here if you wanna have a read through the things I added to my wishlist in April.

Over the last few months I have managed to purchase a few of those that are on my wishlist and I still have soo many things that I want to buy so here we go ladies!
May Beauty Wishlist
This wouldn't be a beauty wishlist without MAC now would it? I have been lusting over the MAC Prep and Prime pen for a while after seeing it appear on multiple blogs over the last few weeks. There are 3 different shades but 2 of them are waaay too dark for my skintone but the shade 'radiant rose' looks perfect for my pale skin. I want this sooo badly!

Another hyped up product in the blogosphere, typical Lauren. I can't help but go along with the hype on this as it has so many positive reviews. I swear I haven't seen a single negative one. I am trying out new cleansers lately to find one that works great for my skin and this cleanser is the next one on my list to buy and try out.

How do you Hoola girls? haha. I find it soo difficult finding a bronzer that works with my dull, pale skin. They always seem to make my face look orange and muddy, not a great look right? I have been researching the Benefit Hoola for a while and it seems to work well for some ladies with pale skin. A reasonable purchase?

I am getting fed up with blending my foundation in with my fingers or RT expert face brush and I really want to try something new like the RT Miracle Complexion Sponge. I've read a few positives about it and it seems to blend foundation into the skin well. I'm always after a flawless finish so maybe this is the way forward for me.

A blogger inspired purchase by llymlrs I must admit! Why does Lily always make me want to purchase everything? Damn it! I'm sure some of you feel girls like this too. Benefit Hervana is a pinky/peach blush which doesn't look 'too much' on the face. What will my next Benefit purchase be? The Hoola or Hervana? What do you guys think?

What's on your Wishlist this month?

The Beauty Blogger Tag

The Beauty Blogger Tag
Hello lovelies! I haven't done a tag in a while so when I came across the Beauty Blogger tag in the Blogosphere I instantly wanted to do it. It's a great, fun tag that will let you get to know me and my little blog a little bit more.

 Let's get starteeeed!

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
I started blogging because it's something I have wanted to do for the longest time, ever since I left school. I was always scrolling through various different blogs and watching beauty gurus youtube videos. I have been blogging since last October and I am loving it.

Who's blog did you fall in love with first?
The first blog I fell in love with first? Aggh, gheeze, you know I actually can't remember as I've been reading blogs from a young age. I wish I could remember.

What was the first Blogosphere hyped about product that you bought? Was it worth the hype?
I jumped on the Maybelline Babylips bandwagon and purchased two of them in 'Pink Punch' and 'Cherry Me'. At first I liked them but overtime my love for them disappeared. They give a lovely sheer wash of colour to the lips but I'm more of a bright and bold lipstick kinda girl so that's maybe why I wasn't such a big fan of them for long.

What are your 5 favourite things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?
1. The blogging community is absolutely amazing. I love chatting to new people on the #bbloggers twitter chats. You share the same interests(beauty, blogging etc) so you find it easier to talk to them rather than family or friends that don't share that same interest as you.
2. The majority of products I have found through other beauty blogs posts I have purchased and loved. Some of them have actually gained the 'holy grail' status. It's great to find new products through another persons blog.
3. I love reading through blog posts, whether it's a favourites post, review, product launch, pretty much anything. I always gain inspiration from reading blog posts. I always think of a new blog post idea when reading through them.
4. I love reading through all of your lovely comments on my posts, I always feel a great sense of achievement when I read through them.
5. Writing blog posts- I love writing a new blog post. It's such a great thing to do when you want to fill in spare time and I love writing about things I am hugely passionate about.

What have you learnt from being a Beauty Blogger?
I have learnt that I am absolutely rubbish when it comes to saving money. If I read through lots of good reviews on a product then I will most probably buy it(I do my research first) or if I see some tempting offers on my favourite beauty sites I will often take advantage.

What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
Write about things you're passionate about, you don't need to buy the next best thing in order for people to read your blog. Don't compare yourself to other bloggers, do your own thing. It doesn't matter if one blogger has over 2,000 followers and you have 200, as long as you're enjoying it, they're just numbers.

What are your top 5 makeup brands?
1. MAC- I am obsessed! I love their lipsticks, face products and eyeshadows. Such great quality and worth the high end price.
 2. Rimmel- A great high street brand that are always upping their game with their products. I love the Kate Moss and Rita Ora ranges, particularly the lip products. I am a bit obsessed with them.
3. Revlon- Another high street brand that I have to sing praises about. I love the colorburst balms and revlon colorstay foundation. Need I say more?
4. Urban Decay- Admittedly I don't have many products from them except from their Naked palettes but o-m-g, they're amazing.

These are the top 4 brands that I love, I haven't been experimenting with many new products from other brands.

Recommend your top 5 beauty products:
Revlon Colorstay Foundation-  a great medium-buildable coverage foundation that covers well, is very long lasting and suits all skin types.
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms in 'Unapologetic'- A bright, bold statement balm that is super moisturising and great for summer.
Urban Decay Naked Palettes- I have 1 and 3 and the 2nd palette on the way. They are both very versatile and incredibly pigmented. You can use them as a one wash wonder or create the most beautiful smokey eye with these palettes.
Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara- This is a 2 in 1 mascara, it volumises and lengthens the lashes without clumping.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Soft and Gentle'- The most beautiful highlighter, it makes your complexion look incredibly healthy and glowy. It's just amazing!

I hope you enjoyed this tag, I tag you all to take part!

Pearl Drops Beauty Sleep Overnight Serum | Review

Pearl Drops Beauty Sleep Overnight Serum
As I've probably mentioned a gazillion times I have been trialling so many new products out over the last few weeks(see what is new here and here) including the Pearl Drops Beauty Sleep Overnight Serum.

After reading a lovely review on Gemmas(GemmaEtc) blog about this interesting whitening treatment I was won over and instantly purchased it from my nearest superdrug store just days later. It was on offer for just £1.70 down from £3.49. I have never used any teeth whitening treatments before as I'm normally quite sceptical about trying them.

Pearl drops claims that the Beauty Sleep Overnight Serum is the first beauty serum for teeth and gums that works while you sleep to help whiten the teeth and nourish the gums while protecting them from negative effects. It's also said that the Pearl Drops beauty sleep serum contains active oxygen, vitamin E and patented liquid calcium to boost whiteness, nourish the gums to preserve their healthy look and restore the tooth enamel.

It sounds impressive right?

I haven't got the most perfect white of the whitest teeth but they're not extremely discoloured either and I have a few white stains on them due to having braces and going through a major jaw operation so this seemed like a great option for me to try out.

The packaging is a basic white tube containing 20ml of the serum, it doesn't seem like a lot of product but it has lasted me at least a month and I still have plenty of the product left to use. The serum is of a opaque white, thick gel consistency with a strong mint scent and taste which I actually quite like.

Every evening after brushing my teeth with my normal everyday toothpaste I dispense at least 2-3 pea sizes of the product and gently massaage it into my teeth and gums. The instructions say to use at least one pea size for both upper and bottom teeth but I find that it is not enough product for me. You can also apply it during the day and leave it on for just 30 minutes and rinse. Once I applied the product to my teeth I was left with a rather wet mouth which wasn't at all pleasant but that's only during the first minute or so of applying. I wasn't put off by it funnily enough.

When I wake up, I rinse and my teeth feel extremely clean, none of that disgusting grittiness and it doesn't leave them feeling sensitive either which I was quite worried about.

Overall, I have noticed a considerable difference to my teeth. It makes the nasty stains on my front teeth less noticeable, they feel incredibly clean the morning after and the overall appearance of them is a lot better before I tried the beauty sleep serum.

Have you tried the Pearl Drops Beauty Sleep Overnight Serum?
