Cream Opal Collar Necklace | Love Moi Boutique

Cream Opal Collar Necklace

Hello lovelies, today I have my very first accessories post for you.
I absolutely love jewellery, especially necklaces, I've already got lots of them.
I personally think that a gorgeous piece of jewellery can finish an outfit, whether it's a stunning necklace piece or a dazzling bracelet.

I was trawling through the internet looking for a statement necklace and came across Love Moi Boutique which is a lovely online store full with beautiful jewellery pieces. It's such a lovely online store, I wanted to buy everything but unfortunately I couldn't, that would have put a big hole in my purse.
While browsing through the site, the Cream Opal Collar Necklace instantly caught my eye and I decided to place an order alongside a few other lovely necklaces before christmas while they had 20% off and I was excited to receive it through the post a few days later.
It was kindly wrapped in purple tissue paper which I thought was lovely, all arrived safely, phew!

Cream Opal Collar Necklace

The necklace is so beautiful with the cream opal gems, it has a lovely vintage style to it too which I absolutely adore. It's very wearable and really does make a great statement no matter what you are wearing, it makes an outfit look so snazzy. You can also get this necklace in different colours such as 'sea green' and 'dusky pink' which I also want to purchase.

I only found one downside to it, the chain seemed to break off a little and the necklace did fall off at some point but it's nothing that can't be fixed, I've put it back together now, nothing to worry about.

Overall, this beautiful necklace is definitely worth a purchase, it costs only £7 on the site.
Currently Love Moi Boutique has 25% off too so surely it's worth checking out girls?

Why are you so Skinny?

This is a question I get asked every so often, maybe on a daily to weekly basis and boy does it annoy me. When I was younger, maybe aged 8-9 I started getting teased by other children because I was tall and slightly skinnier than all the other girls, I noticed it myself but I always ignored it. I always had people in my school or class saying things to me like 'you shouldn't be that skinny, it's not normal, blah blah blah and of course it upset me, what child at 8 years old should have to deal with horrible comments like that.
It got worse when I started secondary school though, people I knew would ask the big question, why are you so skinny? and I would answer them by saying 'I'm naturally like this'. I had people saying to me 'you should eat more meat' or 'you must be anorexic or bullimic' which is enough to upset anyone.

I don't see why I should justify my weight to anyone at all because I know the reason why but the truth is I have a high metabolism.

What is a high metabolism? It's basically when your body digests your food faster than someone with a slower metabolism, it burns off calories quicker hence why I don't seem to be gaining weight.

I am not anorexic or bullimic, I eat plenty of food every single day and to be honest I'm happy with my body now. As much as I'd love to put on weight, my body won't put it on but as I get older my metabolism will start slowing down, allowing me to put on the weight, I can't be skinny forever. I've always had a tiny waist, thin legs and arms, I'm a size 6-8 and I'm happy with it.

You should never ever be made to hate your body, whether you're thin, average or slightly bigger, everyone's beautiful in their own way and you should never be ashamed of it, be happy!

If you're ever being bullied, whether it's about your weight, looks or a disability you should never be alone, always talk to someone whether it's your parents, friend or a teacher.

This has been a big thing for me to write, it's always been something I've been self-conscious about since I was younger but over the last couple of years I've gained tonnes of confidence and I'm so much happier.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask | Review

The Bodyshop Tea Tree Face Mask
Tea Tree Face Mask | The Bodyshop

Hello again lovelies, a few weeks ago I had a little splurge on The Body shop website yet again, typical Lauren. I had to repurchase one of their products and I noticed there was 50% off everything so I picked up 2 other products and popped them into my virtual basket, one of these products was the Tea Tree Face Mask.

Naturally, I chose this because I have acne-prone skin and I wanted something that I could use once a week that could hopefully minimise my breakouts. I was very apprehensive about trying the face mask at first, the last time I used a face mask I broke out in a horrible rash and I couldn't wear makeup on my face for a week, it was a disaster. Thankfully, this face mask didn't do that and I have a rash-free face, phew!

The Bodyshop Tea Tree Face Mask
The Tea Tree Face Mask is a 100ml pot which doesn't seem like a lot for its £10.00 price tag but it has plenty of product that will last you a while, I think you could probably get at least 10 uses out of it.

It is a clay mask but the consistency of the Tea Tree Face Mask is very creamy and spreads nice and easily onto the skin, you don't need a lot of product. It also has a very cooling effect on the skin (it also contains menthol) which leaves my face feeling very refreshed and clean after use. It also made my face feel incredibly soft afterwards which was amazing, almost like a newborn baby's bottom.

When applied, it gives my face a nice tingly feeling and it dries very quickly, it doesn't dry the skin out at all.

How to use?
Apply generously to the face and neck with your fingers, avoiding the lip and eye area and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse off with water, preferably cold.

I have used the Tea Tree Face Mask regularly, only once a week at night to help minimise the breakouts, I can't say I've noticed a huge amount of difference to my face yet but it seems to have calmed my breakouts down a little which I love.

Overall, I think this face mask is definitely worth a try, especially for those that suffer from breakouts like me, it has made a big difference to my face even though I've not used it for that long. Hopefully, it will continue to make a bigger and better difference to my face overtime of using it.

Have you tried The Bodyshop Tea Tree Face Mask? What do you think?

My January Beauty Wishlist

I haven't done a wishlist since November last year and I've recently came across a few beauty products that I really want to try and purchase this month so this post is purely to show you what I have my beady eyes on this month.

January Beauty Wishlist

 NARS Bronzing Powder in 'Laguna'
I am yet to purchase a NARS product so I asked on the #bbloggers chat what I should purchase and most of the #bbloggers recommended the bronzing powder in the shade 'laguna'. I've read up on the product a bit and it sounds incredible so this will hopefully be mine in a couple of weeks, eek, hopefully it will be worth it.

Marc Jacobs 'Daisy Eau So Fresh'
I was browsing around Boots a few days ago and took a look through the perfume and this little bottle caught my eye. I sprayed a little bit of the perfume on my wrist, it smells so lovely. If I don't purchase it this month then I will probably ask for it for my birthday next month.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
I loved the original naked palette so much that I now want the second one too.
The Naked 2 palette is completely different from the original, it has much more neutral shades than the first one which I love. Unfortunately it's not in stock at all online so I have to wait until it comes back in stock again, wahh!

Benefit 'Rockateur'
Last year this blush has been highly raved about by many beauty bloggers, I've read review after review after review about this little beauty and it sounds and looks incredible.
I seen this on the shelves in my Banburys store a few months ago and I couldn't part with my money, I wish I just went and purchased it but hopefully this little pot of blush will be mine soon.

What's on your Wishlist this month?

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle | Review

MAC Skinfinish Soft and Gentle
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Soft and Gentle' | MAC

Towards the end of 2013 I started to become interested in face highlighters, I just love the look of luminous glowy cheeks, it looks so beautiful. Anyway, I asked a few bloggers on the #bbloggers chat what their favourite highlighter was and the majority of them said the MAC Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle so I decided to look online for reviews to see if it was worth the purchase. After reading so many great things about it I decided to bite the bullet and purchased it online on the MAC website. Unfortunately I don't have a MAC store near me so I always have to purchase my MAC products online, boo.

MAC describes this product as 'A luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish that smoothes on and adds buffed up highlights to the cheeks, brows and anywhere else on the body, providing an ultra-deluxe polish to the skin'.

'Soft and Gentle' is an incredible warm champagne colour which I wouldn't normally go for as it does look a little dark but thankfully it works great with my awfully fair/pale skin.
If this shade suits my skin tone I'm sure it would suit various other skin tones too.

MAC Skinfinish Soft and Gentle

The very first time I tried it I was astonished, it gave my cheeks a gorgeous healthy glow and it looks so lovely when it catches the light, it's great to use all year round, it looks so natural. It has beautiful flecks of glitter but don't let that put you off, it's quite subtle once applied. Normally my face looks quite dull but the MAC Skinfinish Soft and Gentle completely transforms it, making my face look bright and healthy, I love it!

MAC soft and gentle feels really soft and looks incredibly sheer once swatched, you can apply the product with a fantail brush, a blusher brush or just your fingers but I choose to use my Real Techniques Blush brush to apply it. You don't need a lot of it either, you just take a quick swipe of the product and apply it on giving you lovely glowy cheeks in an instance. I wouldn't apply too much product though, you don't want to look like a disco ball.

MAC Skinfinish Soft and Gentle

Unfortunately I'm unable to provide you with a picture of the product swatched as the light kept changing so the product looked non existent on my horrible pale skin, agh!

This product is highly raved about and I can see why! It's become a staple in my makeup bag since purchasing, I have used it every single time I apply my makeup.
It's 10g of product so I see it lasting me a very long time.

You can purchase it from your nearest MAC store or any department store for £22.00, it's a great investment, you wouldn't regret it.

Have you tried the MAC Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle? What do you think of the product?

Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in 'Give Me a Cuddle' | Review

On Friday I finished up with my Best of 2013 series so I thought now would be a good time to share my views on one of my absolute favourite lip products of all of 2013. Yes, it was shown in my Best of 2013 favourite lip products post(which you can read here) but I thought the Rimmel Colour Rush Balm deserved a more in depth review.

Rimmel Colour Rush Balm Give Me A Cuddle
Rimmel Colour Rush Balm Give Me A Cuddle Swatch
Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in 'Give me a Cuddle' | Boots

When I was in Boots a few months ago I was on a little shopping spree(when I say little I mean big, oops!) and seen the Rimmel Colour Rush Balms out of the corner of my eye.
There were many other shades there but 'Give me a Cuddle' was the one that caught my eye the most, along with 'Drive me Nude'. As you know I am a pink lover so it is really hardly surprising that I was immediately drawn to it. I picked it up and swatched it, I was in awe, I immediately popped it into my basket and walked to the till to pay.

'Give me a Cuddle' is a pinky/peachy shade which looks absolutely stunning! I imagine it would suit all skin tones, if it suits a pale/faired skin girl like me it can suit anyone, surely.

It is great for day wear, if you're having a bite to eat the colour will fade a little but not too much, it's almost like a lip stain, it lasts quite a long time. The pigmentation is great, although the swatch above doesn't do it much justice, it is highly pigmented and a lovely colour.

The formulation is just perfect, it's not sticky like some lip balms, it's incredibly creamy and moisturising. Personally there is nothing worse than a sticky lip balm, eurgh, so I was glad that wasn't the case with this. I have to admit though, the first thing that I noticed and love about the Colour Rush Balm is the smell, it has a vanilla scent which is sooo gorgeous, it's incredibly similar to the mac lipstick scent but it's slightly stronger.

The packaging is great, it is a similar colour to the balm inside which is so lovely.
You can also wind the lip balm up and down from the bottom which is helpful if you seem to be running low on product.

Overall, I absolutely love this lip balm! This really deserves a lot of hype in the beauty community, it's the best discovery I made last year.

Have you tried this before? If so, what do you think? Are you a fan?

The Best of Beauty 2013 | Lip Products

So far for The Best of 2013 instalment I have talked about a few of my favourite skincare, haircare, face products and eye products so now I will be talking about my favourite lip products from 2013. Funnily enough I didn't have as many favourite lip products from last year as I thought I did which is quite odd for me considering I love my lip products.

Collection Bubblegum Lipstick
Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Lipstick | Superdrug

This lipstick is a lovely baby pink/lilac based lipstick and it has been a staple in my makeup bag for maybe the past 2 to 3 years now, it's perfect if you like a nice bold pink lip. It has a creamy consistency and it applies like a dream, it's just incredible for a price tag of just £2.99.

Lip Balm

Carmex Lip Balm
Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm | Boots

Oh my, this is an absolute lip saviour! I have been using this throughout the winter months whenever my lips feel dry and chapped. A little bit of product goes a long way, it keeps my lips moisturised throughout the whole day. I did a review on this product which you can read here.

Lip Tint/Balm

Maybelline Babylips Cherry Me
Maybelline Babylips 'Cherry Me' | Boots

Last year the Maybelline Babylips hit the market and became extremely popular and I jumped on the bandwagon and purchased this particular one along with 'Pink Punch'.
It smells so fruity, just like Cherry, obviously! I always use it when I'm being a little lazy and want a little tint of colour on my lips. For more information on Babylips, have a read here.

Lip Crayon

Rimmel Colour Rush Balm Give Me A Cuddle
Rimmel Colour Rush Balm | Boots

I got the Colour Rush Balm in 'Give me a Cuddle' which is a lovely pink/coral shade, it's a  beautiful shade and it's incredibly moisturising too. I admit I did purchase it a little late into 2013 but I've used it so many times already.

Now, that's all my favourite lip products of 2013, I hope you enjoyed it.
Have you tried any of the products mentioned?

The Best of Beauty 2013 | Eye Products

I have yet another instalment of 'the best of 2013' series for you today. Over the last few days I've talked about my favourite haircare, skincare and face products so today it's all about my favourite eye products, let's get started!

MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Lingering
Mac Eyebrows in Lingering | MAC

Okay, I admit I only started using this towards the end of 2013 but it's one of my favourite discoveries. This eyebrow pencil gives my eyebrows great definition and makes them look so natural, I love it!

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara
Rimmel Glam'eyes Day 2 Night Mascara | Boots

I absolutely love this mascara, I used this throughout the whole duration of 2013.
It is a 2 in 1 mascara, the top cap of the mascara adds volume to your eyelashes and the bottom cap adds length without looking clumpy. After use my eyelashes looked extra long and thick as if I was wearing false lashes which is amazing.

Liquid Liner

Rimmel Glam'eyes Professional Liquid Liner
Rimmel Glam'eyes Liquid Liner | Superdrug

This has been my absolute number one favourite liquid liner for the past maybe 2 or 3 years, it's just that good. Normally liquid liners can be difficult to control but nuh-uh, not this one, it's surprisingly easy to use. This liquid liner lasts so long too, it never seems to smudge throughout the day unless I'm out in the rain or I rub my eyes.

Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos in Metallic Pomegranate and Pink Gold
Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo | Boots

These color tattoos in the shades 'Metallic Pomegranate' and 'Pink Gold' were my favourite individual eyeshadows in 2013. I always use them when I'm just being lazy and I want a lovely wash of colour on the lids. They are such beautiful shades and they're incredibly creamy too. For a full review on these wonderful eye shadows, take a look here.

Urban Decay Naked Palette
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Urban Decay Naked Palette

Finally, it's the Naked palette by Urban Decay! I could not write this post and not include it even though I only got it in October 2013. This palette consists of 2 matte eyeshadows and the rest, shimmer. The shadows are highly pigmented, they are great for creating both daytime looks and smokey eyes. For more information about this lovely palette, have a read here.

I hope you enjoyed it, keep tuned for the last instalment of the best of 2013 series tomorrow.

What were your favourite eye products of 2013?

The Best of Beauty 2013 | Face Products

The past two days I've shown you my favourite skincare and haircare products from 2013 but unfortunately I have no favourite bodycare products from last year so now is the time to move onto my favourite subject, makeup!

I've been into makeup since I turned 15 and since then I've become obsessed to say the least, throughout last year I came across so many lovely products so I thought it would be better to pick out one particular favourite from each category, starting with foundation.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Ivory
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Ivory| Superdrug

Yes, it is Revlon Colorstay foundation! I've got this foundation in the lightest shade, Ivory for oily skin. Last year I had a love/hate relationship with it as it sometimes stuck in dry areas such but I've never stopped using it for some reason so I must have loved it. It's known for being incredibly similar to the MAC studio fix fluid and I must say I agree, the only con to this foundation is you have to blend it in quick but overall it gives me the perfect amount of coverage.

MAC Skinfinish Natural in Light
MAC Skinfinish Natural in Light
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural| MAC

I started using this a few months ago, at first I wasn't sure about it but overtime I've started loving it and it's now gained the 'holy grail' status, It's amazing! It keeps my foundation matte without making my face look cakey or washed out, it's really quite incredible, I can't praise it enough. For a full review on this wonderful product, take a look here.

Sleek Blush in Rose Gold
Sleek Rose Gold Blush| Superdrug

This is such a beautiful blush, it's a peachy/pink shade with shimmer, it makes my cheeks look incredibly healthy. It's more of a summery shade but it's beautiful to wear all year round, by far the best blush I've tried in 2013. To read the full review on the Sleek Rose Gold Blush, take a peek here

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer| Superdrug

Okay, I admit I wasn't very into concealers until maybe a few months into 2013 but honestly this little beauty is amazing! It has great coverage on my blemishes, it brightens up my under eyes when they're looking tired and it's quite cheap too.
What more do you want from a concealer?

Foundation Primer

Gosh Velvet Touch Foundation Primer
Gosh Velvet Touch Foundation Primer| Superdrug

This is honestly the one and only primer I've used throughout 2013, its the perfect base for my foundation. When applied, my face feels silky smooth and my foundation glides on effortlessly after applying this primer. For a full review on the Gosh Velvet Touch Foundation Primer, have a look here.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft and Gentle
MAC MineralizeSkinfinish Soft and Gentle
Mac Soft and Gentle| MAC

I got into highlighters quite late into 2013 and I admit I didn't get this until maybe a month or so ago but since then I've used it every time I do my makeup, it's absolutely amazing. It gives my cheeks a beautiful glow and it's such a beautiful shade too.

Have you tried any of these face products? If so, what are your favourites?

The Best of Beauty 2013 | Skincare

Yesterday we covered the subject of my favourite haircare products of 2013 and today I bring to you my second instalment of 'The Best of 2013', my favourite Skincare products.

I haven't really experimented with many skincare products during 2013 as I am so scared that my skin will completely freak out and I'll end up with a rash or get a huge breakout.

The products I am showing you I have been completely faithful to all year round or  recently incorporated into my Skincare routine.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Range
Tea Tree Range| The Bodyshop

First of all is of course The Bodyshop Tea Tree range. I have the tea tree face mask, foaming cleanser, skin clearing toner, lotion and the Tea Tree oil and I've recently bought the night lotion and pore minimiser which I can't comment about as I haven't used it much yet. All of these products have helped me all through this summer to the winter getting rid of those pesky spots along the way. As you know I am incredibly prone to acne so these products are just wonderful and they don't dry my skin out at all. For a full review on some of these products, take a look here.

St Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub
St Ives Apricot Blemish Fighting Scrub| Superdrug

My favourite facial scrub of 2013 is the lovely St Ives Apricot Blemish Fighting Scrub.
It smells incredible, like apricot obviously and it gets rid of dry skin in a flash, leaving my face feeling refreshed, soft and supple. For a full review on this product, take a look here.

Olay Complete Care Fluid
 Olay Complete Care Fluid| Superdrug

The Olay complete care fluid has been a favourite of mine throughout the whole entire year, it gives my skin plenty of moisture, creating a soft and flawless base for makeup, perfection!

Olay Gentle Cleanser Conditioning Milk
Olay Gentle Cleanser Conditioning Milk| Superdrug

Last but not least is the Olay Gentle Cleansing milk for all skin types.
I have used this for the past maybe 2 or 3 years now and kept on repurchasing without fail. Not only is it great for makeup removal, it's quite cheap too. You can buy it for just £1.50 in your nearest Wilkinsons store which makes it a great bargain!

The Best of Beauty 2013 | Haircare

Last year I decided after years of dying my hair I needed to stop and get my hair back to its original condition. Well maybe not its original condition, that's almost impossible with 4 or 5 years of dying and bleaching my hair more than 20-30 times(oops!). I also had my hair cut into a bob, which I soon regretted and now I crave for long locks.

Now today I decided instead of doing the usual favourites post I would show you my favourite products from 2013 in different categories, starting with my Haircare products.

Here are my top favourite Haircare products of 2013!

Argan Oil Hair Mask

This Argan Oil hair mask is the one and only hair mask I have used throughout 2013.
It gives my hair its strength back and its incredibly moisurising, I've had it for a few months and it's still pretty much full as you only need a little of the product.

Aussie Heat Protector

I have been using this since the beginning of last year and let me tell you, it's incredible.
Not only does it protect your hair when drying, curling and straightening your hair, it smells gorgeous and leaves your hair feeling smooth afterwards.

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner

These are most recent in my hair care routine as I only got them a few weeks ago and I already love them. I felt that I needed more moisture in my hair as it always felt dry and static and these little beauties completely transformed it. After using, my hair felt incredibly soft, sleek and hydrated, thats just what I wanted.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Fruity and Cheeky Cherry

This is another recent purchase that has been incorporated into my haircare. I absolute love the scent of this dry shampoo and it leaves my hair feeling refreshed.I did a full review here if you want to take a look.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor

Last but certainly not least, it is of course the Aussie 3 minute miracle reconstructor.
Yes, it is another conditioner but I absolutely love it and can't praise it enough. I use it for 2 different purposes, for conditioning and as a hair mask, both of which works an absolute treat. You can find a review on this lovely product here along with the Aussie take the heat leave in spray.

What was your favourite hair products in 2013?
