How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

How to Clean Makeup Brushes

Today I am bringing to you a step by step tutorial on how to clean your makeup brushes properly. Now, I have to admit when I first started getting into makeup and using makeup brushes I didn't think that cleaning them was necessary at all but now I understand why it should be done. It makes me feel a little sick that I used to never wash my brushes at all not knowing I wasspreading bacteria all over my face, eww! You would be quite surprised at how many people never wash their brushes, I'm disgusted that I used to be one of those people. I am quite obsessed with deep cleaning my makeup brushes now and I do it every single weekend.

It is an absolute must to deep clean your makeup brushes at least once a week as everytime you use them they collect makeup, dirt, bacteria and oil and they get stuck to the bristles. It is extremely important to clean them especially if you are acne prone as using dirty brushes can spread more bacteria onto your face causing an unexpected breakout to appear.

To learn how to clean your brushes properly you can follow my step by step tutorial below.
How to Clean your Makeup BrushesHow to Clean your Makeup Brushes Step One:
You start by running your brush underneath lukewarm water to rinse out the makeup.
Make sure that you don't put the handle anywhere near the water as it can loosen the glue on the brush and bristles may start to fall out.

Step Two and Three:
Grab some baby shampoo and pour it onto the palm of your hand.

Step Four:
Swirl your brush into the shampoo in a circling motion to create a lather and then rinse out under lukewarm water. If there is still a build up of makeup stuck to the bristles you can pour some virgin olive oil onto your hand and swirl your brush in a circle motion and rinse in lukewarm water. If there is still some makeup left after this then keep repeating this step.

Step Five:
Reshape the brush and lay it down flat on a towel to dry.

Step Six:
Repeat all steps for all your brushes and set them all down onto the towel to dry when finished.

Spot Cleaning!

You can also spot clean your brushes using a brush cleaner or baby shampoo.
You apply the brush cleaner or baby shampoo onto a tissue and wipe your brush up and down and in a circling motion.

I hope I made this sound simple for you or helped you in some way.

The Christmas Tag 2013

Christmas Tag 2013

Hello beauties, I guess the title of the post says it all doesn't it? It's getting closer and closer to Christmas day now, eek, exciting! Only 26 sleeps now until Christmas! No doubt that it is my favorite time of the year. It's not just about giving and receiving presents, it's about spending time with the family, having a laugh and then you can end the year on a high and start afresh. I can only wish and hope that next year is so much better than this year. This year hasn't exactly been the best year for me but then again who doesn't have at least one negative thing happen in the space of a year.

Anyway, lately I have seen so many Christmas tags swanning around the beauty community and I was amazed at how many of them there were but this one in particular caught my eye as I felt like the answers came naturally to me rather than having to think about it more than most.

Here are the questions and my answers:

1. What is your favourite Christmas Song?
Urm that's a little difficult as I have a few but I have to say my favourite song is 'I wish it could be Christmas everyday' by Slade as it reminds me of Christmas in my childhood.

2. Which is your favourite festive drink?
Hmm, I love hot drinks during the festive season, I always seem to drink cups of tea or have a hot chocolate and maybe a glass of wine or two so nothing special really.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas film?
I don't really have a favorite as I love most Christmas films so I can't really choose.

4. What is at the top of your Christmas list this year?
Hmm, I don't have a huge Christmas list but the Tom Ford lipsticks are definitely at the top of my list as they are fairly expensive at £36 each.

 5. What is your favourite festive make-up or nail art look?
I'm not particularly festive or creative with my makeup or nail art but for makeup I'd say a smokey eye with a nice berry lipstick. For nail art I'd either have a dark or berry shade polish, I am pretty basic when it comes to my nails or nail art in particular.

 6. What is your favourite outfit at Christmas time (LBD, Christmas Jumper, PJ's)
I like to dress a little different during Christmas day so I'd either wear a dress (I don't own a black one) or skinny jeans, a blazer and a lovely top. I'm not a big fan of Christmassy jumpers if I'm honest but during the night time I'd probably wear some comfortable pj's with a onesie.

 7. Would you rather play out in the snow or enjoy it from the inside with the fire and a cuppa?
I don't cope well outside in the cold so I'd say I'd enjoy it from the inside unless my nephew was to drag me outside to play in the snow with him then I would enjoy it from the outside.

 8. Wrapping presents Love or Loath?
I love wrapping presents! I like the thought of wrapping up the presents ready for my family to open on Christmas day, it's exciting because I won't know what there reaction is until the day.

 9. What is your favourite Christmassy food?
Obviously the easiest question! Without a doubt, a roast dinner! Who doesn't love a nice bit of turkey, a few potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and pig in blankets on their plate at Christmas? Apart from vegetarians of course. Typing that made me a little hungry if I'm honest, it sounds so yummy!

 10. What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
My favourite thing about Christmas has to be the atmosphere, spending time with the family, having a laugh with them and relaxing. There is never a dull moment with my family on Christmas day.

I hope this helped you to get into the Christmas spirit because I most definitely am, I am so excited!

My November Beauty Wishlist

It feels so good to finally be writing a post after having a few days break from blogging. I didn't know I was going to take a break but due to illness and work experience I haven't really had the chance to settle down and think about writing a post for you guys.

Anyway I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! My weekend has been extremely busy and exhausting but fun nonetheless. I've started to perk up a little now and I really want to get back to blogging so I'll try my best to get back to posting frequently again.

Anyway enough about all that, lets get down to the point of this post shall we?

Yet again I have been reading way too many beauty related posts and I've got a few things in mind that I really want to treat myself to. A girls got to treat herself right? I have so many things that I want to get this month before Christmas but I've managed to narrow it down to four of them. If I don't buy them before Christmas they will get popped onto my Christmas list for Santa!

November Beauty Wishlist
MAC Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle

A few weeks ago in a #bbloggers chat I asked a few of you lovely bloggers for a recommendation for a highlighter and the majority of you suggested the MAC Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. I have heard about this so many times! MAC says it is a luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. This sounds so lovely. Unfortunately it's out of stock at the moment so I'm hoping it will come back in stock soon before Christmas. You can buy it from a department store such as Debenhams and Selfridges, online or at a nearby MAC store for £22.

 Tom Ford Lip Color

These lovely lip colors are popping up everywhere on various blogs recently and they have been so highly recommended by many of you. There are so many shades that I want but if I had to choose at least 3 of them I'd pick Pink Dusk, Spanish Pink and Nude Vanille. They do have a hefty price tag which I am not particularly keen on so I do have high expectations for these lipsticks. You can buy the Lip Colors from department stores such as Selfridges and House of Fraser or online for £36.

Estee Lauder Double Wear

Yet again, I asked on a #bbloggers chat what the bloggers favorite medium/full coverage foundation was as I needed a new foundation and most of them/you had said the Estee Lauder Double Wear. I have to admit I have been curious to try it out for a while but I never wanted to part with my money as I was happy with my Revlon Colorstay. I have seen a few reviews on this product and many beauty bloggers said it gives a lovely natural finish so I knew then I had to get it. The Estee Lauder Double Wear can be purchased online from their website or department store websites or you can buy it in your nearby department store for £28.50.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

A week ago I read a review about the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask on one of my favorite bloggers blog. Before I read her post I have to admit I had never heard of it before but after reading it I really want it. REN says it's 'A potent bio active peel mask designed to renew the complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines and dramatically improve skin tone'. This sounds so good and it has so many positive reviews too!
You can buy it online for £30.

Have you tried any of these? If so, what are your opinions?

Week 1 | I'm a Beauty Blogger, Get Me Out of Here!

A few days ago two lovely girls called Rochelle and Natasha from Next Route Style created the most brilliant tag called 'I'm a Beauty Blogger, Get Me Out of Here due to the series having started on Sunday evening on ITV1. There will be three posts in the period of time that the series is on. I will be answering a series of questions in relation to I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and being a Beauty Blogger.

I absolutely love I'm a Celeb and I'm really excited to be getting involved in this tag.
If you're reading this post and want to get involved make sure you post your blog post link to the lovely girls at Next Route Style here.

I'm a Beauty Blogger Get me Out of Here Tag

This is Week 1 of 3 so keep tuned over the following week or two if you want to take a look my answers.

 1) You can only take ONE product into the jungle (aka your luxury item). What would you choose and why?
Oh, this is so difficult! Probably foundation because I have quite a fair few acne scars and I don't have the most flawless skin so I'd like to have some coverage.

2) What would be your main pre jungle worry?
Hmm, probably bugs! Surely there's nothing worse than sleeping in a sleeping bag with creepy crawlies!

3) You only have five minutes to get ready before going into the jungle, what would be your quick beauty routine?
I would apply a little bit of my Revlon Colorstay or MAC Studio Fix, fill my eyebrows in with my Smashbox Brow Tech and coat my lashes with my Rimmel Day 2 Nite Mascara.

 4) Last year we saw Helen Flanagan wearing her hair in a top bun. What would be your signature hairstyle?
I'd put my hair into a lovely fishtail braid, it's surprisingly easy and it's such a cute hair style.

5) For moral support, which female celebrity would you like to be in the jungle with you?
Hmm, probably Charlotte Crosby from Geordie Shore, she is absolutely hilarious and she seems so sweet.

6) Everyone’s given a role in the camp. What lifestyle skill would you bring to the jungle?
Oh wow, this is an even more difficult question than the first.
I have to admit I am absolutely useless at both cooking and cleaning so I'd probably be the lazy one, socializing with others and sunbathing.

7) What one thing about being a beauty blogger sometimes makes you want to scream ‘Get Me Out Of Here’?
Having a huge wishlist of things that you want but you have no money in the bank, boo!

8) Challenge- This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You're up for a trial to face your fears or try something new, what would you choose to do and why?
My worst fear is Sharks but as it's in the jungle I would love to try a new thing like the Cyclone Challenge, it looks so fun and challenging!

If you've read this post you are all tagged, so get blogging my lovelies!

Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos Review | Pink Gold and Metallic Pomegranate

Maybeline Color Tattoos Pink Gold and Metallic Pomegranate
Hello beauties, I hope you've had a lovely weekend, doesn't time go by so fast?
I am so excited for Christmas this year!

Anyway a few weeks ago I was so stunned to find out that I'd one a blog giveaway that was hosted by a lovely girl called Sammy from 'Blinkered Barbie'. I have to give her a huge thank you for that, it's the first thing I've won in my life! These lovely Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos were amongst many other products that I won in the giveaway and I couldn't resist trying them out the moment I got them through the post.

They have been so highly recommended in the blogging community this year. There have been so many fantastic reviews from bloggers about these shadows by Maybelline and they were even compared to the MAC paint pots so you can imagine how excited I was to try them out.
The shades I got were 'Pink Gold' and 'Metallic Pomegranate'. Pink Gold' is a lovely pink shade with little flecks of gold which reflects so beautifully in the light and 'Metallic Pomegranate' is a Burgundy/Cranberry shade with a mix of gold and silver flecks which works perfectly with my green eyes this season.

Here are some swatches to give you a good idea of what the shades are like:

Maybelline Color Tattoos Pink Gold Swatch, Maybelline Metallic Pomegranate Swatch

I have to admit these are the very first cream shadows I have tried as I was pretty worried that they would crease but they didn't. The Color Tattoos are a mix of gel-cream shadows and they come in a handy sturdy glass pot. They look quite solid in the pot but once you swatch it, it melts onto your finger and it feels so creamy. I can't comment on the 24hr lasting power as I don't see a time where I would need to wear the shadows for that period of time but however they lasted quite well for 9 hours when I was on my work experience.
The very first time I used the shadows I was amazed at how well they applied onto my lids, they glided on beautifully. You can forget about using a brush for application, you can use your fingers to apply the shadows instead. The thing I love about these shadows is that you can do your eye makeup in at least 2-3 minutes.  As for the pigmentation, it's brilliant and the shade 'Metallic Pomegranate' is quite deep and a little intense that it doesn't need to be built up. As for the shade 'Pink Gold' it is quite a pale pink so you need to build it up a little for the color to show.

For a normal quick daytime look I use my fingers to apply the 'Pink Gold' shade as a base color and 'Metallic Pomegranate' on the outer corners and apply liquid liner on my top lash line.

Overall I am so impressed with this product and I really want to try the shade 'On and On Bronze'. I highly recommend this product to anyone! You can buy the Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos for just £4.99 from Boots or Superdrug and come in various other shades.

Have you tried the Maybelline 24hr Color Tatoos?

Big ELF Cosmetics Haul

ELF Cosmetics Haul
Oh my, it feels like I haven't wrote a blog post in forever but in fact it's only been a matter of days since I popped my last post up but I finally have some spare time, yippee! The last few weeks I've been constantly exhausted, I guess that's what happens when your routines change, I wasn't used to getting up early mornings until now.

Anyway, you most probably know a week or two ago Eyes Lips Face (or ELF) had a 50% off sale on their website due to reaching a certain amount of followers on twitter. I couldn't resist and I held back a little on how much I spent and only spent at least £20.95 including p&p which is pretty good considering I chose to get 14 items. Anyway, I have been meaning to put this post up for a while now since I received it at least a week ago so here we go..

(I am so sorry again for the rubbish quality of the picture by the way! I have been meaning to get a camera and the lighting was terrible once I got back from work experience).

To get a good idea about these products I have included a few mini reviews of the items I have used since I bought. I can't go into specifics with some of them as I haven't got much use out of them as I'd like but here we go.

In my ELF Cosmetics Haul were the following products:

Beach Party Nail Polish Set- I know the name says 'beach party' indicating they are summer polishes but I absolutely love the shades included in this set, they are my type of shades and I know I will be using these a lot.

Nail Polishes- I bought 2 of these in the sale category on the website and got these for a bargain of just 50p each! The shades that I bought were 'Cranberry' and 'Red Velvet' which are beautiful shades to wear for Autumn. I have to admit my favorite nail polish is the shade Cranberry, it's such a wearable color but Red Velvet is gorgeous too.

Tone Correcting Concealer- I wanted to try a different concealer as I've been so attached to my Collection 2000 lasting finish concealer for the last few months and nothings compared to it so I opted for this one. I have used this at least 2 or 3 times and it doesn't seem to give a lot of coverage. I have pink flushed cheeks and silly me, expected this to cover it up but it didn't seem to work but it works well on covering up small spots.

Lipstick- I think it's safe to say I have a huge obsession with lipsticks and my collection is growing by the minute! I couldn't resist picking up 3 of these lipsticks in the sale. I bought the shades 'Gypsy' which is a purple toned shade, classy which is a light pink/slightly nude shade and 'Flirtatious' which is a pink/peach shade. I can't really say anything much about them as I haven't made use of them yet but they looked beautiful when swatched.

HD Blush- Okay, so lately I've been getting more into blushes since I bought the Sleek blushes and I have been wanting to try liquid formulas ever since so I opted for 2 of ELFS HD blushes in the shades 'Headliner' which is a light pink shade and 'Superstar' which is a coral shade. I swatched both of these blushes when I received them as I couldn't resist but they too look absolutely beautiful when swatched. I have to admit I wasn't keen at first on a coral blush but I'm hoping it will look lovely and healthy. I will keep you updated with a review on the future for sure(if I remember that is). I have a memory of a goldfish.

ELF Baked Blush- These were the products that I was mostly excited about receiving in my haul as they are baked blushes and I've never tried anything of the sort before.
I bought 2 of these blushes in the shades 'Pinktastic' and 'Peachy Cheeky'. I have only tried out one of these blushes at least once so I can't really say much about them either. I used the shade 'Pinktastic' a few days ago and I only seen a slight shimmer on my cheeks which I was so disappointed about but hopefully the other shade will work better for me.

Matte Lip Color- Oh my, this is my favorite of them all! I have worn this a a few times since I received it and I love it! I got this lip color in the shade 'Coral' and it works so well with my fair/pale skin but I'm afraid there is a teeny downfall, it was a teeny bit dry on my lips but nothing a lip balm or lip gloss can't fix!

Studio Makeup Mist & Set- I seen quite a few reviews on various beauty blogs and at least one or two of these beauty bloggers had said that it was a cheap dupe for MAC's Fix+ so I thought I'd pop it onto my list and see if it's as good as they say. I haven't tried this yet but I am looking forward to testing it out.

Eye Crease Brush- Last but not least this lovely crease brush, I have used this a few times with my Naked palette shadows. This works so well for working the color into the crease, who knew a cheap brush from ELF would work so well?! I love it. I definitely recommend this brush to anyone, it's such a great bargain buy.

Did you take advantage of the 50% off?

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Coming Soon!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Release
Hello beauties, The title says it all! All those rumors and leaks going around about a possible new naked palette is in fact trueThere was recently a video teaser about the Naked 3 Palette and above is a picture screenshot from the video. It didn't include many details in the video about it but I recently came across a post from British Beauty Blogger about the Naked Palette 3.

I first found out about the possibility of the Naked 3 Palette when there were pictures circling around the internet, particularly from a blogger from France. It has been said that France had released the brand new Naked Palette earlier than they should have been done which lead to the big question 'is there a possible new naked palette?'.

I'm sure I'm not the only one excited about this am I? Since buying the very first Naked Palette a while ago I have been using it non-stop and they have such a great range of stunning shades with incredible pigmentation.

I am ready to put my hands in my pocket and get my hands on the new naked palette, are you?

My Lipstick Collection: The Pink Edition #4

Pink Lipstick Collection

As you know I've been a little bit busy with work experience lately and I always seem to come back home absolutely exhausted with no energy to write blog posts but I have a few days off now so I can put all my energy back into my blog again, yay!

Anyway today I am bringing you the last post of My Lipstick Collection: The Pink Edition series. Yes, I have bought a few more pink lipsticks recently since starting this series of posts but I thought it would be a little unfair to add them as I haven't made as much use of them as I'd like so I couldn't shed much light on them. I guarantee you'll see a post about them in a future post though.

The last lipstick I will be sharing with you on the very last post of this lipstick series is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade 'Pink Blush'.
Rimmel Lasting Finish Pink Blush Lipstick and SwatchI first bought it 2 years ago and it was one of the first pink lipsticks that I bought as a youngster when I was really starting to get into wearing lipstick.

I have repeatedly bought this on a few occasions when I ran out and I recently bought this lipstick in the exact same shade 'Pink Blush' from a blog sale for only £1 which was a great bargain as they normally retail between £4-£5 each in Boots or Superdrug.

I have to admit this lipstick is one of my all time favourite lipsticks to wear when I just want an instant pop of colour on my lips whether I'm going out to a birthday meal or for an everyday look.

The formulation of this lipstick is a little moisturising but matte too which is a perfect combination. Whenever I'm out for a bite to eat it doesn't seem to affect the wear as much as I thought it would and it still left some colour on my lips after eating which I love.

I can't rave about this lipstick enough, in my opinion Rimmel has to be one of my favourite drugstore brands for lipstick. I already have quite a few Rimmel lipsticks at the moment and I can see myself expanding a little more.

What were your favourite lipsticks from my series of My Lipstick Collection: The Pink Edition?

The Body Shop Haul

The Bodyshop Haul

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and a great halloween. We are halfway through the week now and the weeks been going quite quick. I know my posts aren't as frequent as they used to be when I started this blog but as I mentioned in my previous post I've started doing work experience and sometimes I'm too tired to type up a post but today I have plenty of energy and I want to share with you a couple of things that I've bought recently. I just want to say sorry about the rubbish quality of the pictures, I'm fed up of using my phone and I need to invest in a good quality camera for pictures.
If you know of any good quality cameras please let me know!

Anyway last week I came across Gemma from Miss Makeup Magpie's blog post about her Bodyshop Haul. I found out that there was a promo code for 50% off for everything including sale items so I decided to check it out. I'm so glad I came across Gemmas post, I came away with some really lovely products and saved myself a lot of money in the making so I'm absolutely ecstatic. Since reading Gemmas post I always check on Vouchercodes before I decide to do a bit of online shopping to see if I can save myself some money. Altogether I bought 8 products from The Bodyshop website and I'm pretty happy with what I received.

The Body Shop Shower Gels

The first thing that I bought was the 250ml Shower Gels. If i had paid full price they would have cost me £4 each but because of the promo code they only cost £1.80 each which was an absolute bargain. I got these shower gels in Mango, Vineyard Peach and Raspberry and I am looking forward to using them. I am quite intrigued by the Vineyard Peach shower gel most of all as it has such a beautiful scent.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Range

If you have read a previous post of mine about the Bodyshop Tea Tree Range you may know that I'm absolutely in love with it. I always use the Tea Tree products in my daily skincare routine as I have acne prone skin and it really helps to clear my skin and always makes my skin feel refreshed. I also got the skin clearing toner and 2 bottles of tea tree oil which are replacements as they were running out and I needed to get some new ones. I also decided to get the blemish fade night lotion as I've been intrigued by it for a while but I was always put off by how small it was for a £9 price tag. It may not seem like a lot of money to you but I didn't want to waste £9 on something which may not do anything for my skin.

The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Scrub

The last thing that I bought was this, the Vineyard Peach Body Scrub, normally the retail price is £12 but I got this for only £3! agh, I had to get it before the promotion was over and I'm so glad I did. I've wanted to buy the Vineyard Peach Range for a while and this was always on the top of my list. It's got such a beautiful smell! I haven't used this yet but I am looking forward to trying it out.

Overall I saved at least over £30-£40 with The Bodyshop promo code. I really recommend you check Vouchercodes before you choose to do some online shopping, you can save yourself a hell of a lot of money like I did.

Did you take advantage of The Bodyshop Promo? If so, what did you get?

My Autumn/Winter 'High Street' Fashion Wishlist #3

The cold weather is looming and I can no longer cope. My wardrobe is practically empty with clothes to wear for winter and I need to go out to do some more winter clothes shopping. I can no longer wear flimsy clothes and I have to start up dressing up much toastier.
In the Autumn/Winter I like to dress comfortably and I even layer up my clothes when the temperature drops. I understand some people want to dress 'fashionably' but it's better to be warm with lots of layering than feeling so cold that your hands and feet feel numb after less than an hour outside. I need so many new things, my river island bags falling apart, my shoes heels are breaking, arghh! so much to buy.

Anyway, lately I've been doing a little bit of browsing online for some Autumn/Winter clothing, a new bag and a comfortable pair of shoes. I find that shopping online saves me less time than wandering around a shop causing a fuss about what clothes I should or should not buy, it's quick and you might even find a few bargain buys.

Below I have listed a few lovely things that have caught my eye over the last 2 weeks and are now added to my growing wishlist this Autumn/Winter.

Black Long Sleeved Fur Coat with Large Collar

I first came across this coat when I was on Twitter and found out that the beautiful Kate Thorne from Geordie Shore had a Winter Collection coming out on her website.
The coat also comes in a lovely cream colour too and on the day her Winter Collection launched the coats were sold out within a few hours and I was too late.

Pink Zip Base Tote Bag from River Island

I had a pink/black bag and matching purse on a previous post over 2 weeks ago now and I went onto the River Island site yesterday to find that they weren't selling them so I was a little gutted until I came across this beautiful pink tote bag.
As a big pink lover and a huge lover of River Island I found this to be a great combination.

Tan Faux Shearling Buckle Ankle Boots from New Look

I've been looking for some lovely flat tan boots to get for quite a while now, they look incredibly warm and comfortable and would look great with a chunky knit and skinny jeans.

Cream Bobble Stitch Boyfriend Cardigan

As you probably know by now I love my chunky knits and this cardigan is no exception!
It's an essential and an absolute must for my winter wardrobe this year.

What is on your Autumn/Winter Wishlist?
